So -- what about Simon leaving AI after this season? I'm surprised so many people think AI cannot go on without Simon. It may not go on much longer, but not because of Simon not being there. I really don't think it would be all that different without Simon, provided they get a decent judge.

I would be thrilled if Simon left AI. I can't stand him and he looks so bored most of the time. I barely have any respect for him and believe the contestants deserve better. I think the casual AI viewers might disagree with me though. I think a lot of them still watch in part because of Simon and his opinion is still the most valued.

Also, if he brings X-Factor here, wouldn't be both AI and X-Factor be a bit much?

I guess my final opinion will depend on how AI9 goes, but after last season, I was almost ready to say that maybe AI had run its course. Not because of the contestants, but because of all the rest.

It's got great taste in advertising? ;)

Simon leaving:

Well, provided the show continues on without him. I totally think it could. I'm a Canadian Idol fan afterall.. no Simon on that. Maybe Nigel could come back and judge Idol.

or I also thought it was interesting that Simon's brother made the announcement. (Simon's brother thought Oliver was really cool - maybe he would like to judge Idol :) )

Also, if he brings X-Factor here, wouldn't be both AI and X-Factor be a bit much?

For me absolutely. Maybe the plan was always to phase out AI after this year. And your right Missaddicted the Simon and Paula's antics, and the timing issues really hurt idol this year. But for the press just having Adam emerge from Idol seems to have re-invigorated it, which might be just the thing Simon didn't actually want... it will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I thought the exact same thing. :)

I would be thrilled if Simon left AI.

I would also be thrilled. I'd have to celebrate with a lot of bouncing smilies if that happened.

A BubbleTweet From @dannygokey - danny gokey

Okay, what is with these two and their baby-talk-from-da-hood shizzle? :-?

From mj's blog:
"Adam Lambert climbs from #30 to 27, a 37% increase this week, totaling 62,623. Neither Kris Allen or Allison Iraheta made the HHD Top 50."

Adam's CD is currently (Tuesday afternoon) #21 on i Tunes pop and Kris's is #23. That seems pretty similar. Is it a recent development? Or is Adam just selling so many more physical CDs than Kris?

What's actually funny (kind of) is that I would never follow these numbers if not for mj's blog or possibly TWoP. So I assume the average person never follows them. For whatever that's worth.

What's wrong with the above Adam Lambert fansite?
It's got great taste in advertising?

LOL! :grommit:

What the hell was that bubble tweet? LOL.

From the numbers I've seen during the last week, Adam's album was consistently higher than Kris's album on iTunes. He also probably got a good bump after SYTYCD. And since iTunes represents only like 20% of the sales, it's definitely possible that physical album sales were very different for the both of them.

Adam, Adam, Adam. I'll just have to wait for the Adam storm to be replaced by the Kris drizzle. :D You know what they say. "Wet and drizzly wins the race." What? That isn't what they say? How about, "Ice for lunch is better than a face in the crotch"? I believe Shakespeare said that. ("As You Like It", Act 2, Scene 3.) And truer words n'er were spoken.

Earl Stevenson and Jully Black visited a Christmas tree farm on eTalk last week...why? You'll have to watch. Earl has a CD coming out soon.

Yay! We have confirmation now that the show will be back to the top 24 format. Let's hope they also bring back the band for the semis and not the backing tracks like last year. That really sucked.

The bad news is that we will get 8 (!!!) audition episodes. 4 weeks of auditions!! That's way too long. Was it like that the previous years?

"Wet and drizzly wins the race." What? That isn't what they say? How about, "Ice for lunch is better than a face in the crotch"? I believe Shakespeare said that. ("As You Like It", Act 2, Scene 3.) And truer words n'er were spoken.

LMAO!

Sleepinin's mind wanders.. rusty things shift.. Babbling again.. feel free to skip ahead.. lol

Oh, and I had a mini revelation last night. I was watching an episode of Disband and it occurred to me that it has great production values, it's about finding unsigned bands, it's owned by CTV Globemedia through Much. I think it might be a reason why Idol is on a "break" in Canada. They don't have to pay licensing fees for the show, the bands come to them, since Much gets Demo's anyway. They can put their money into the show and promotion, and they can also play it all the time since it's original music.. no lisensing fees for the music.. or cheap ones. Then the bands can be on Much and provide product.. with a built in fanbase. It's genius.

Also the judges can be brutal. (love me some Greg Nori though) Even worse than Idol... they need a replacement for Simon? Seriously there are thousands of people out there who will be brutally honest to these kids.. they might try looking in the music industry.

I don't know if it's still a rumor or not, but apparently Jordin, David Cook and Kris will record covers of Disney songs? I started seeing the rumor from Cook fans (who don't seem very happy about that rumor), but it seems it also involves Kris and Jordin.

People seem to be talking about it on our favorite blog, but I have no intention of going there to read about it.

ETA:

The song that David is rumored to be covering (originally written and sung by John Rzeznick of the Goo Goo Dolls, who ironically, is the co-writer of David's song Declaration):

YouTube - JOHN RZEZNIK - I'm Still Here (from TREASURE PLANET)

I've never seen Treasure Planet, nor have I ever heard that song before, it's pretty good.

The song that Kris is rumoreed to be covering (originally done by Canadian Sarah McLachlan, from Toy Story 2):

YouTube - Toy Story 2: When Somebody Loved Me.

I think I've seen Toy Story 2 while babysitting kids, but I didn't remember that song, it's really pretty.

love me some Greg Nori though.

Who is he? I know he's produced Hedley albums and co-witten some of their songs.

I actually find the Toy Story 2 song a little boring (sorry, jmho).

Andrew talks. I had a little chat with him a couple of weeks ago. *bragging unabashedly* He's a cool guy, isn't he? And he seems like a great musician. Was Kris playing CSA? I couldn't recognize it!

That video of Kris answering questions seems cool, but it keeps stalling out at about 3 minutes, so I have no idea what he says about pickles. (The more high def the video, the more I seem to get that little spinning circle of dots.)

The DUUUuuu thing is still annoying after all these months. I'm with Anoop on this one.

Did you notice Anoop was the only one of the Top 10 they didn't say they missed? Or maybe I just didn't hear them if they said it.

Spelt his name wrong (ha) but Greig was in the band Treble Charger. They have a pretty similar sound to Hedley actually.. or maybe a bit of the same vibe.

YouTube - Brand New Low -Treble Charger
YouTube - Treble Charger - Hundred Million
Greig is the "They're going to be Huge" guy. He's the mentor on the show and helps the bands perfect their stuff, whether it's record a demo, or change their name, or add members.
YouTube - Stereos - MM disBand Finale Promo

I'm interested in seeing what Kris does with that song. I loved it in Toy Story (love Toy Story too, lol).

Treasure Planet i've never even heard of that Disney movie, but the song sounds cool.

I'm interested any time Kris put out new stuff.. speaking of.. AOL Sessions where, oh where are you?

Bragging about your chat, lol.. :) That was awesome.. brag away. Yeah, the more I see of Andrew the more I like the guy I have to admit. And that video from the WPST thing where he starts playing CSA and Kris just looks on in admiration is all kinds of awesome. Love it. And yep, CSA from Kris.

That video of Kris answering questions seems cool, but it keeps stalling out at about 3 minutes, so I have no idea what he says about pickles. (The more high def the video, the more I seem to get that little spinning circle of dots.)

Someone asked his fave Sandwich - (he doesn't like Philly cheesesteak.. since he doesn't like onions) So this is his sandwich toasted wheat bread, ham, salami, honey mustard, pepper, pickles, and olive spread.

They asked him about I Was Played from BNS, and he said it was about a friend of his, and he said I don't know how you got ahold of that song. (Psst.. your CD was spread internet wide - I think everyone has it)

Song for a tv show.. Alright with Me in Scrubs since he loves that show

And the nicest thing he did for someone. He had leftover food from dinner boxed up and offered it to a homeless person (it was eggplant) so the homeless guy asked him if he had anything else since he didn't like eggplant - lol. Kris then said homeless people are picky these days.

And he wants to play the saxophone.

I know right? Weren't they supposed to be online on the 20th? He recorded a Xmas song for that, it'd be nice to have them before Xmas.

I've never watched that show, but I think they're known to use good music, no? Also, it was funny how Kris answered this question really fast, as if he'd already thought about it!

My first impression of him was that he was really nice, more outgoing than he seemed onstage. I walked with them and he walked behind, but he must have talked a lot because I turned around a lot. He seems smart and mature. Ryland seemed the most like Kris, to me, for some reason. He was sincere yet he seems like a fun guy. And Chris was more bouncy and puppy-like. He was really friendly. It was funny how comfortable I felt talking to them, they seem really "normal" if that makes any sense.

Grieg Nori seems to co-write the "She's So Sorry" type of stuff with Jacob. The more melodious stuff is usually co-written by Dave Genn. Are you familiar with him? (He was in the Matthew Good band.) He writes with a lot of young Canadians like Jacob and Dave Faber and Jesse Cottam. I really like his stuff (I would like Kris to write with him). Both these guys have been mentors to Jacob, I think. I remember some comments from Jacob about Grieg, about how he was someone Jacob felt was similar in personality to him, and how he never thought he'd meet anybody like that. Also that Grieg wouldn't stand for much of his b.s. and made him work hard.

Here's a good interview with Jacob where he mentions Grieg:

Interview With Hedley Frontman Jacob Hoggard | The Daily Rock

LOL at Kris giving the homeless guy eggplant.

Ross you and Kris can chow down on that pickle monstrosity he was talking about leave me out of it.

I saw the rest of the video. Um, the sandwich. I don't like peppers. I don't know what olive spread is but I like olives so it sounds good. The whole combination sounds kind of gross, though. I don't even eat sandwiches, usually, since I hardly ever eat bread.
