Canadian Citizenship Didn't Exist Prior to 1947

grumpy, haven't you studied the history of Canada? My word, I don't live in the country, but I have studied its history.

So why couldn't British subjects from India, Britain, Bangladesh etc claim Canadian citizenship on the basis of being a British subject under the British crown like Canada was and is? You did not need to be born in Canada to be a British subject, then become a Canadian citizen.
