Considering the article is true, and the purchasing power of Canada is lower than the US, I have to go with Andem when he shows that the entire concept of the "standard of living" can be considered higher in Canada according to the UN. As the UN also takes in consideration for example the literacy rate and the life expectancy.

RICK,

The point os of two studies focus on different items of interest in the economy, the US Standard of Living is hard to compare when there are different components which are ignored! In the US, personal income is up but so is the credit index which funds all this materialistic adventures! Over all, the personal incomes of Americans is rising but what it will purchase is dubious, energy costs have went up but housing and land is stabilized here compared to many parts of the world! Our (US) medical Care is expensive but plentiful if you "wish" to pay for it! Food cost have held the line but clothing is actually down with the imports. So much of the US economy is funded by the services industry now and production and productivity have not dropped off but have been mad e more efficient and needing less workers!

Sorry for not joining the post sooner, but I have been ill and have not felt like getting on the computer.

Best wishes and tell Eaglesmack that there is a secret tribe of Canadians living in the "HEARTLAND"
