And then there is our little contribution to the Bush War on Terror, Afghanistan. Torture. Civilian deaths. Money spent on weapons. New Tanks!!

This is all due to that military-corporate lobby in Canada, and our ex-lobbiest, ex-soldier, Min of Defense O'Conner.

If you don't want to read all those, suffice to say that the military lobby in Canada is alive and FAT!! They are getting whatever their cold dark hearts desire from PM Harper. So typical of conservatives who only seem to know oil and war, death and destruction. This is not the will of Canadians, this is not democracy in action!!

ANS: it looks like, and is , actually, the majority opinion getting it's way, with minority opinions given due consideration.

In Canada, polls will show that the majority of us do not want to be involved in killing civilians or eradicating poppy crops in Afghanistan, or any involvment in Americans bombing the hell out of oil-rich Arab nations in "war of choice". That should indicate that our troops must leave there now, with possibly some peacekeeping forces to help locals in some areas, and educational assistance to balance the messages the Taliban are teaching there. Military exersizes are just a waste of time and money, as all previous excursions to Afghanistan have shown.

The terrorist threat is almost non-existant in Canada, judging by the number of attacks on our soils by islamic radicals [none]. The War on Terror, then, is by choice and is not essential to our freedom or safety. "The War on Terror" is a farce, and the purpose of the farce is to occupy oil-rich Arab nations.

It is a small percentage of Canadians who want our troops there, but one of them is PM Harper, so it happened. This is not a functional democracy - if you look at the links in the first post here, you willsee that the MILITARY LOBBY in Canada has pushed this through, they have got their will done, by the traitor PM Harper [an oilman].

To be fair, it wasn't Harper who originally sent them there. If they are to be sent there, should they not have the best equipment we can afford them? Understand that a lot of new procurements have uses back home. The ice storms in Quebec saw Canadian military helping out. Any natural disasters can be aided more efficiently with reliable equipment.

Tanks somewhere around $1.3 Billion, aircraft around $12 Billion or something like that.

not in Kansas anymore
I believe it was Jean Chretien who committed our troops there without a vote in parliament, not for peacekeeping but for soldiering. Harper actually held a vote and our elected representatives voted to keep our troops there.Democracy,eh. This is a UN backed NATO mission, not a george bush war. When terrorists hide amongst civilians, casualties occur. Our troops do not go out of thier way to kill civilians. What is wrong with eradicating poppy crops? Are you pro-junkie? Luckily we haven't had a terrorist incident yet, remember the plot to kill in Toronto? What a bunch of left-wing drivel.
