Canada's Mars One hopefuls

The Mars One project is private spaceflight project that plans to establish a colony on Mars by 2025. The entire mission will be documented for a non-stop reality television production. The astronauts will be selected from the more than 2,500 who volunteered worldwide.
In Dec. 2013, the list was pared down to 1,058, with 75 Canadians selected, the second largest contingent by nationality after the U.S. The next step includes a physical examination and then two more cuts over the next year before the list is trimmed to the 24-40 astronauts who will undertake the mission.
