How did the quasi International Police Force do in Rwanda?
Ummm... last time I checked your people are there in Afghanistan as well.
Indeed. More evidence that the small military force Canada has is not so useful on its own. Amalgamating it into a larger international force, possibly with nuclear capability, might be more useful. It certainly would limit our abilities on the ground, but would serve as an inexpensive deterrent.
My point was that if the mighty US military had to spend so many years in Afghanistan, Canada's is even weaker, so clearly just increasing Canadian military spending won't do the trick with our population and tax base.
Won't most of those private-sector workers be headed off to China to work in your global economy thing?
No, because as China develops, its products are going up in price. Besides, already Canada is exporting to China too, just fewer household items and mostly resoruces, food products, and industrial machinery.
A military economy?... In Canada?
This is how we get into debt. We figure that because the Jones' spend less than we do, we're OK, ignoring the fact that the Jones' debt is through the roof.
Just spending less than our gluttonous neighbours is not good enough. We ought to look for savings wherever and whenever possible. It's our taxes, remember.
