The 16 participating nations include China, Denmark, Finland, Great Britain, India, Ireland, Japan, Nauru, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Peace Team (Israel/Palestine), Samoa, South Africa, Sweden and the USA

We beat the USA this year who missed the championship by just 1 point, so anything is possible - maybe we can take the cup

Canada are still undefeated after another impressive win against Sweden. :thefinger:

Canada 16.12 (107)
def
Sweden 1.1 (7)

The goalkicking hero was Scott Fleming, a junior from the North Delta league and the Vancouver Cougars who has been playing semi-pro in Australia. His contribution was almost half of Team Canada's score 8 goals and following his 4 goals in the last round is currently the leading goalkicker in the entire International Cup !

Pool D
Team Pl W L P.C. Pts
Canada 2 2 - 3400.0 8
Ireland 2 2 - 3033.3 8
Sweden 2 - 2 6.8 0
Finland 2 - 2 0.0 0

A win against Ireland should certainly put us into the finals !!

Go Canada !

unfortunately Ireland proved too strong for the Northwind ... :-(

Ireland 4.6 (30)
def
Canada 2.2 (14)

Ireland won the cup in 2002 and came 4th in 2005, so to lose by just 2 goals in a close match is an enormous achievement !

The way the draw works means that we can now not win the world cup which seems really stupid :angry3:. But they still play some matches. I think the highest they can get from here is maybe 4th or 5th which would still be a big improvement on previous results at the tournament.

More to come ....

Canada have defeated Japan

Canada 7.7 (49)
def
Japan 0.3 (3)

The final match against Nauru will determine whether Canada can achieve either a 5th or 6th overall. Either placing would be an improvement over 2005.
