Residential water supplies in Northern California are being cut in order to restore salmon and steelhead habitat.
Good. Northern Californians ain't very good eatin'. Like a nice salmon filet a lot better.
There are two systems serving in California already. One in northern Orange County in the Anaheim area and another in the Ventura County area in the east valley's. Both have been doing better than initially expected. Both still conduct sampling and analysis before any of the refined and quad filtered water is allowed to enter any system designated for human consumption.
The local water authorities want to build a desalination plant on Monterey Bay. It's taken more than a century for the Bay to recover from whaling and commercial fishing operations. All that is going to be placed at risk with a gamble on the environmental and fiscal uncertainties of a major desalination plant unless the people stop it at the ballot box.
