Bush's Visit

Is it true that in his (Bush's) speech yesterday, he referred to Canada as "Europe?"

I thought I heard that, but our press has been so busy trying to put a positive spin on his visit I haven't seen a replay of it. At any rate, given that this was really a dress rehearsal for a visit to Europe and Bush's lack of geographical knowledge, it was pretty much an expected gaff.

Don Neuman's show on Newsworld was interesting today...they had the press secrataries for the various parties on because Thursday is spin doctor day. These guys are usually pretty amiable and chummy. Not today. Today there was outright hostility. Most of it was directed at the Liberal, but the NDP guy took a few nasty shots from both the Liberal and the Conservative...they are really angry that Layton talked to Powell, Rice and Bush and had them confirm that BMD does include the weaponization of space.

Bill Blaikie was whipping Martin about the neck and ears with that today in Question Period too. I missed the post-Question Period scrums, but I heard that things were looking pretty ugly there too.

I think Martin and Harper are both in trouble on this missile defence and they know it. No matter how they try to spin it people keep seeing the truth because the Pentagon and the Bush administration have admitted that truth. Since both Martin and Harper have been pushing for BMD and they are the only ones that got full meetings with Bush, I'm betting they said it would go through. Now they have a political problem.

Thanks Rev- I heard someone on the radio yesterday, talking about Bush referring to Canada as Europe. Air America is the best thing that has happened to the media here in years. It tells the OTHER side of the story.... You know, the truth.

For example, While Rush Limbaugh was making a mockery of Bill Clinton opening his library in Little Rock Arkansas, Air America was broadcasting "The Ed Schultz Show" He asked the listeners to call in and make recommendations of what the GW Bush Library would contain... Some of the suggestions were:
My Pet Goat
The Presidency for Dummies
Photo Gallery of Iraqi prisoners and American GI's at Abu Ghraib -
55 gallon drum of napalm

You get the picture, It was one of the few things that has made me laugh since I have been in mourning since the thing they call an election down here

Andem-

Thanks for the welcome. I happened across this site when I did a search for the fun-filled visit to Canada by our fearless leader.... You know, Mr. Mission Accomplished. As for the drug companies ties with the President and his staff- I know Rumsfeld was CEO of Searle, the makers of Aspartame, which is how he made his millions. Searle is a subsidiary of Pfizer - Pfizer was a massive contributor to the Bush campaign. The Bush family and Pfizer have been in bed together for a very long time.

And if you think that Mad Cow has anything to do with Bush not allowing Canada to export its beef to the U.S., then think again -- Bush is also tight with the Texas Cattlemen's ASSOC.

Believe me, for a guy who claims to be in direct communication with God, What he's really in direct communication with, is his bank account.

I like Air America too, June. I just wish I hadn't blown up my speakers trying to make NASCAR Racing reach the same decibel level as the actual cars...everybody sounds like chain-smoking frogs now. Ah, x-mas is coming though.

I find the whole mad cow thing hilarious. We basically matched our feed requirements to those of the US a long time ago. We were maybe a little more stringent depending who you talk to, but it was close enough that feed flowed back and forth across the border with no checks. Cows get BSE from feed.

Anybody who has been around cattle at all in the last twenty years or so also recognises that, for all intents and purposes, we have one continental herd from Canada to Mexico...there is no such thing as an American or Canadian cow anymore.

I got a giggle out of the "Alberta beef" they fed Bush for supper too. Of course it's Alberta beef, that's where the slaughterhouses are. It might have been raised in BC or Saskatchewan or Manitoba too, but we shut down our regional slaughter houses for the most part so if it's from the west it was killed and butchered in Alberta.

Hey! Reverend Blair;

It's too bad about your speakers, eh?

This is an executable file. Your virus checker may alert you. But, I'd never give you a corrupt file. It's safe to open this.

Thank you Canada.

That is hysterical.

Please, can't we ship Bush up there? He doesn't know the difference between Canada and Europe --- We can tell him he is going to Wyoming to fish and then ditch him and then your Mounted Police, with their fire-engine red jackets, can drag him to a nice Canadian lock up! Whee!

I just don't know how to get Air-force 1 to play my reindeer games!

The last time I saw a mountie in a red jacket was treaty day in Montreal Lake, Saskatchewan. The most memorable thing was the charter pilot found a hooch-house and got loaded so one of the Indian Affairs guys had to fly home...he'd never flown anything with more than two seats before that day. I don't know what happened to the mountie...I think he was likely on the plane with the honchos.

It would have been good to have George Bush up there with us...he could have seen third world poverty up close and personal. Also, we could have just left him there.

That was twenty years ago though. George was still getting his daddy's friends to finance his business failures back then.

The last time I saw a mountie he was dressed pretty much like any other cop and was writing me a ticket. Something about him not liking my Mario Andretti impression if I remember.

Yesterday, Bush was photographed with one of those red jacketed mounties - which made all the papers here...

Maybe you keep 'em in a closet...

Love the story though.

Dear Paranoid...

The link closes down -- It isn't making me happy... Time to go watch ER (Pronounced Errrrrrr!) here at my happy home. I will toss and turn all night - wondering "What was that link? Was Paranoid Dot Calm punishing me for being an idiot and spending way too much time with my pal, the computer...???"

Man, My reading/ looking at the computer glasses are dirty! I hate when theglasses make it more blurry than not having them on at all... Sort of destroys the whole meaning of wearing them...

Abraham Lincolns reading glasses - He had them with him when Booth shot him. They look nice and clean.

I are dumb.

Since Georgie is too cowardly and rude to meet with all of the opposition leaders, Jack wrote him a letter. http://ndp.ca/speechdetail/nid-2360

Great letter - Too bad it is way too long for George W. Orwell Bush to read. He wouldn't get past the part that says "Dear"

1984 is here. Read the book again and just change the date in your head to be something like 2004.

Well, it works for me.
I have Office 2003 installed and so I got PowerPoint.

Maybe you need a PowerPoint Viewer? (It's free.)

And, .... while I think of it ....
I noticed you said you were into net graphics and stuff.
I just tried this product out.

I especially liked the Christmas samples. I know the text is a bit off, but I was in a hurry.

It's ceremonial dress only, which is why the guy at Montreal Lake was wearing one. They tend to reserve the red tunic for when the government is giving something away. I didn't mind them handing out money at Montreal Lake...the people there deserve it. My hackles rise when they give something to George Bush though.
