“. . . to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility . . .”

Please note that this is not responsibility for his personal lack of leadership, or any mistakes or errors that he made.

"Katrina exposed serious problems in our response capability at all levels of government. And to the extent that the federal government didn't fully do its job right, I take responsibility," the president said.

I notice he didn't go so far as to say "I didn't do my job right". I mean would it have been so difficult to turn to his military chiefs and say, "Get some men and equipment in there and help those people, Now." I assume he said something like that, four or five days after the fact.

RE: Bush Takes Responsibi

I get the feeling that he never said anything at all like that, and never will.

More likely what happened is that the Republican Party called up Carl Rove and said, "Quit dicking around here, you're blowing the election." That would have encouraged Rove to call PNAC and ask them what the government was allowed to do.

sure he does. ....verbal political gymnastics. He's got himself into a pickle and even he must know it now.--dim as he is.

With all the LIES he has spun to date..... not putting much value on this one either.

All politicians are taking heat on this one, Gov Blanco was grilled by the news media about when she asked for help and it was mentioned that she did not ask for specific help but would it have been too hard for the Whitehouse Major Domo to ask, "Need any military help?"

Blame game contiues!

... and now Bush wants the taxpayers to pay for the cleanup and repair while his Halliburton pals all benefit from the government contracts.

Good deal, huh?

Sure it is  :x .........for Halliburton and the bush crooks  . When it comes to taking advantage of a disaster.(natural or bush-made).....they are the pros.

With all the financial contributions coming from all around the world........ bush and crooks (aka gov't) might not have to pay as much as they are "pledging". We all know how "pledges"work.... and how often the USR has followed through on them.
