Britain's population has reached 70 million - mainly due to immigration.

The country's population is growing rapidly - the fastest it has grown since 1949, in the post World War II baby boom era.

Now, in terms of population, Britain is Europe's third-largest country after Russia (144 million) and Germany (84 million), ahead of fourth-placed France (68 million).
