I would not jump to any such conclusions; it sounds more to me as though the Honourable Scott Brison, now the Environment Critic for Her Majesty's Loyal Opposition, speculated as to the content of what the announcement may have contained (which, to be quite frank, could have been anticipated without much critical thought, in terms of the atmosphere of the announcement).

The government specifically requested recommendations from the chartered banks on this issue. It was clear changes were coming that would appease the banks. The last thing the government would want would be banks converting their own operations to income trusts. The writing was on the wall. The day before the changes were announced RBC officially and publicly submitted it's own and similar recommendations. Perhaps with RBC's clout the markets reacted. I'm sure RBC would have more impact on the stock market than a read-between-the-lines comment by Scott Brison.

Good points, Kreskin.

Come to think of it, whatever happened to the Opposition House Leader, and the allegations that he (the Honourable Ralph Goodale) had a leak originate from the previous Ministry of Finance under his supervision? There were demands for his resignation from the Right Honourable Stephen Harper — is this issue ongoing?

Hi Five. Do you really think a high ranking Liberal knew nothing of the decision before it was made? I think it is likely that he did have at least some inside information on the decision, and when it would come. Even if he didn't, suggesting knowledge of an impending government decision in correspondence with one who could benefit clearly shows a complete lack of judgement. This incident should be thoroughly investigated. Bye bye Brison and his leadership dreams.

I would agree that it should be investigated; however, if an investigation should be an automatic suspension of leadership hopes, then should the Right Honourable Stephen Harper resign, now that he is being investigated by the Ethics Commissioner, Bernard Shapiro? ;)

I think that even when it comes to Ministers of the Crown, or former Ministers, as the case may be, they should continue to be given the consideration of being deemed innocent unless proven otherwise (this doesn't mean that one shouldn't step aside during an investigation, of course).

True, but a member of a government should not be speculating with a bank employee friend about a secret government announcement that involves the banks. If anything he should have kept his mouth shut or his typing fingers crossed.

Brison said he wrote, "I think you will be happier very soon ... this week probably," after the bank employee complained to him about the state of the stock market.

This is highly suspicious considering the bank employee is not even asking him directly about the subject and Brison seems to encourage him about his future in the market.

This is just another stupid politician who said too much and now he’s going to take some flak for it. This will hurt his chances definitely to become leader of the Liberal Party.

Ah, okay; some sources seem to have written in differently, lol. I guess it all depends on how the reporter interprets how something is said, eh? Okay, never mind. :)

It is Paradox's new job....defend the Liberal party regardless of how low he has to stoop to do it.

A loyal companion, and brilliant too, Because if you see how the Liberals reward their friends and colleagues, he stands to make a mitt full.

Jay, throwing insults toward the membership is inappropriate; we should be debating based on the facts and situations before us, and not calling into question the character of members. I would request that you withdraw your comments in contradiction of this principle.

I most certainly take offence to that comment. However, I have no intention of issuing a report because of that — just know that I are unhappy-ishness at you and therefore may have to blind you with my flashy colours. :)

Seriously?!

I thought Her Most Excellent Majesty had better taste than that!

Heh, Jay, I am just kidding. Sometimes I just have trouble differentiating between when you are intending to be funny, and when you are intending to offend — some things are harder to pick up online, eh?

I'm quite the irresistible piece of work. Ask Cosmo. Ask all the fine ladies around here!

Let me help out it's both. Where is the fun otherwise? :D

I thought one day you would just freak out on me!

But I have decided you are my new project. We need your skills on the right side of the fence....where all the freedom loving, good and some not so good people, are. We don't pay as well as the left, we expect you to make your own enumeration, because unlike the Liberals, we don't steal taxpayers money!!

Do the right thing, Five, join the rebel forces against the evil leftist empire!

But unlike the Grits you would also not let me marry somebody. :D

I'll stay here on the dysfunctional, in-need-of-repair lefties' side, okay? lol
