Their father was a liberal lion who — even if you didn’t like his politics — was a man of immense personal integrity.

Former governor of New York, Mario Cuomo, is now no doubt spinning in his grave over the alleged antics of his two sons, Andrew and Chris. Here’s your cheat sheet on the two sleazy siblings.

BIG BROTHER ANDREW

411 : The 64-year-old former governor of New York resigned from the state’s top job earlier this year amid a tidal wave of sexual harassment allegations.

LITTLE BROTHER CHRIS

411: Cuomo had been one of CNN’s highfliers with Cuomo Prime Time u ntil he became ensnared in his brother’s trials and tribulations. The 51-year-old previously worked at ABC News and that era is now something of a problem for him.

RANDY ANDY

Andrew Cuomo had been married to Kerry Kennedy (yes, those Kennedys) from 1990 to 2005. When the marriage ended, there were allegations of sexual affairs (her allegedly with a Republican polo player, him with minions). One author also claimed she sometimes slept in a locked room because she was afraid. They have three daughters.

BATTLING CHRIS

Chris Cuomo married magazine editor Cristina Greeven in 2001 and the couple have three children. Little brother shares Andrew’s tempestuous temper and threw a man down a flight of stairs at a bar after he called Chris “Fredo” in reference to character in The Godfather Part II. Cuomo later said it was “tantamount” to the “N-word for Italian-Americans.”

THE LOVE GUV

Things started going downhill for Andrew last December when multiple women accused him of sexual harassment. He denies all and apologized (sorry, for the miscommunication). His main accuser is his former aide Lindsey Boylan whom Cuomo allegedly tried to smear. An August report alleged that Andrew had sexually harassed at least 11 women during his tenure. Ultimately, Cuomo resigned in disgrace to avoid an impeachment trial.

QUOTE

“I now understand that my interactions may have been insensitive or too personal and that some of my comments, given my position, made others feel in ways I never intended . . . At work sometimes I think I am being playful and make jokes that I think are funny. I mean no offence and only attempt to add some levity and banter to what is a very serious business.” — ANDREW CUOMO

THE FAMILY

Chris Cuomo apparently offered some brotherly love for his embattled sibling. It seems he used his influence with other journalists during Andrew’s woes to get him a better hearing. A law firm recommended that the cable network kick Cuomo to the curb. On Saturday, he was canned.

QUOTE

“This is not how I want my time at CNN to end, but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother. So let me now say as disappointing as this is, I could not be more proud of the team at Cuomo Prime Time and the work we did as CNN’s #1 show in the most competitive time slot.” — CHRIS CUOMO

NOW, IT’S TIME FOR CHRIS

In the days before he was fired by CNN, Chris was accused of sexual misconduct during his tenure at ABC News. According to the New York Post, Cuomo was accused of grabbing the rear end of a producer in 2005. It was also reported that one of his female producers at CNN left in 2020 because she “felt threatened.”

The amount is $3 million more than what his annual salary was, though it’s believed the disgraced news anchor was holding out for an $18-million lump-sum payout until he was told to set his sights a little lower, reported the New York Post .

News of a possible settlement comes after CNN president Jeff Zucker resigned over his romantic relationship with a colleague, executive vice president and chief marketing officer Allison Gollust.

Sources say Cuomo was planning to file a lawsuit against AT&T, CNN’s parent company, with allegations against Zucker and how he and Gollust coached his brother, former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, for his press conferences during the pandemic.

Cuomo could still refuse the offer and sue anyway, reported the Post , but Zucker’s departure may have taken the edge off of the potentially damaging allegations.

Cuomo hoped to get paid out what was left on his contract but Zucker shut him down at the time.

It has since emerged that Cuomo was the one who told executives about the affair, resulting in Zucker resigning as part of an agreement with AT&T chief John Stankey.

“Jeff cut a deal to say, ‘I’ll leave, and you settle with Cuomo,’” a source told the Post . “He thought AT&T would fight a lawsuit and it would go public otherwise.”

Zucker stated he was leaving because he violated corporate policy by not disclosing the nature of his relationship with Gollust.

However, in a draft of Cuomo’s suit that has not been filed alleged Zucker’s misdeeds go beyond that.

Gollust, meanwhile, is staying with the network.

CNN executive Allison Gollust has resigned from the company following an internal investigation that found violations of policy by her and others, WarnerMedia Chief Executive Jason Kilar said in a memo to staff, which was seen by Reuters on Tuesday.

Her departure is the latest move after a network investigation into the conduct of Chris Cuomo, a primetime CNN anchor who was fired in December for allegedly assisting his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who was accused of sexual misconduct.

CNN President Jeff Zucker resigned earlier this month, telling staff he had failed to disclose a consensual relationship with a colleague. CNN anchor Brian Stelter said at the time that the relationship was with Gollust, the chief marketing officer for the network.

“Performed by a third-party law firm and led by a former federal judge, the investigation was comprehensive and definitive,” lasting from September to the past weekend, Kilar wrote in the memo to staff.

“Based on interviews of more than 40 individuals and a review of over 100,000 texts and emails, the investigation found violations of Company policies, including CNN’s News Standards and Practices, by Jeff Zucker, Allison Gollust, and Chris Cuomo.”

Gollust, Zucker and Chris Cuomo could not immediately be reached for comment.

CNN is part of AT&T-owned WarnerMedia, which is being spun off in a $43 billion transaction with Discovery.

The network fired Cuomo in December, following an inquiry into his efforts to help his brother, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, who had been accused of sexual harassment.

Chris Cuomo maintains that he was transparent with CNN about his role as his brother’s confidant, and had “no reason to believe” that this violated the network’s policies. He also claimed that former CNN chief Jeff Zucker and one-time marketing chief Allison Gollust had themselves provided advice to the former governor.

Details of Cuomo’s assistance to his brother came to light in November, when the New York State Attorney General released materials related to its investigation of Andrew Cuomo.

The filing alleges the law firm CNN hired to investigate Cuomo’s role in advising his brother, and a subsequent allegation of sexual misconduct that surfaced in a Dec. 1 letter, failed to give him an opportunity to explain what happened or address the woman’s allegations, which he claims are false.

Chris Cuomo’s lawyers also argue that CNN was willing to bend its rules when it would benefit the network, citing the early days of the pandemic, in early 2020, when the network lifted its ban on Chris Cuomo interviewing his brother “to exploit the Cuomo family relationship for its own purposes.”

“As CNN has admitted, network standards were changed in a calculated decision to boost ratings,” said Bryan Freedman, one of Cuomo’s attorneys, in a statement. “When those practices were called into question, Chris was made the scapegoat.”

Representatives of CNN parent, AT&T’s WarnerMedia, declined comment.

Risa Heller, a spokeswoman for Zucker and Gollust, previously said that “Jeff was never aware of the full extent of what Chris Cuomo was doing for his brother, which is why Chris was fired.” She said neither Gollust nor Zucker offered advice to the former governor. Both left the network after failing to disclose a consensual relationship.
