Titanic director James Cameron and Canadian filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici say they aren't trying to undermine Christianity in their documentary that claims the remains of Jesus, his wife, Mary Magdalene, and their child have been found.

Yuck... these pieces of slime sicken me to no end.

Jesus was NOT married, he did NOT have a child, EVERYONE ACKNOWLEDGES (EVEN ATHEISTS) THERE WAS A MAN NAMED JESUS

But I am SO SO insulted that these 'people' try to make up lies and false hoods.

You know why? They want to prove Christianity wrong.. and one method is to try to make Jesus look like a normal human with a wife and child, to discredit him as a prophet.

Don't test me here people.. I get VERY emotion when Jesus Christ, my lord and savior, is made a mockery of with falsehoods and lies.

Not that I'm trying to say that there aren't possibly bones out there that may have belonged to Christ. But, for some funny reason, two filmmakers turning up Christ's tomb just doesn't seem overly credible, especially during lent. Do I smell a fusion of 'Passion of The Christ' and 'The DaVinci Code' coming?

Yep, we always get a wave period where they try to discredit Christianity.

BTW don't insult Passion of The Christ, I don't care for Mel Gibson after his comments, but that movie was amazing, and he portrayed so amazingly. That move can make a Christian feel good in a Secular Progressive world.

Yeah, me too... funny how our liberal press is obsessing about this... all part of the war on religion.

I never insulted it, but at the same time, I've never felt any desire to watch it. I grew up attending mass with a 10 foot tall Jesus, hanging from a cross above the alter, complete with blood seeping from all the appropriate wounds, bruises and scratches, and protruding ribs. I've spent enough time dwelling on his death. I don't need a video reminder.

Easy killer. Certainly no one doubt the validity of the man Jesus having lived. there just has been too much written about him to make it a fraud. Was he divine or the son of God? That's a whole nother question! But we do have the right to discuss his claims, whether it makes you emotional or not.

All I am saying is:

Anti-religious zealots try to discredit Christianity by going straight to the biggest thing: Jesus Christ.

They want to discredit his life on this planet as far from the prophet the Bible says he is.

Just a guy wanting his 15 minutes of fame and a chance of creating a wave of anti-religion sentiment.

We'll be surfing on that wave westmanthingy, all us anti-christ types. Can you imagine the relic market value of his pinky? Those bodys are going to be worth big bucks. Piece of the old rugged cross who cares. If you grind these bones up, just a little spec, and drink them with virgin blood (or beer if you're out), you can live forever. I think I saw the instructions somewhere.

Not that the documentary proves anything but why would it be such a stretch to consider Jesus' body may not have floated away to the heavens? Is it that far fetched to think it might not have? Why would it make a difference if it was ever proven it didn't?

Why do Christians automatically assume that it must not be true? How do you know this? I'm not saying it's true or that it's not true. Either way is possible. But, I doubt anyone on this message board was involved in this research, so I don't believe anyone here can say for certain whether it is true or not. But I hope everyone is open-minded enough to recognize that it is possible.

Heeheehee.... and here's where you get to hear my cold medication talking...

If Christ was who our religion claims him to be, then he should have had so much more energy in his body than the average person, that I've never seen a reason why his soul wouldn't have been as present as his biological body. I always thought that there must be some earthly remains of him, because the little scientist in me knows (if you want to boil heaven down to its simplest interpretation) you can't take matter to a realm based on energy.

Because the dogma is that he bodily ascended into heaven, thus there should be no earthly remains. If there are, his ascension is a lie and one of Christianity's major props gets kicked out from under it. I wouldn't worry about it though, there's no conceivable way to prove any particular pile of bones once belonged to Jesus. It is a legitimate empirical question and is definitively answerable, at least in principle, but we don't have the necessary data and almost certainly never will. Besides, people who believe claims like virgin births, the miracles reported in the New Testament, and bodily ascension into heaven, aren't going to be swayed by circumstantial evidence and probability calculations.

And I could never understand why all the Christians are so outraged at the thought of Jesus' having a family. It is not an outrageous crime, to have a family, is it? To married by the law and to have legitimate children? Even if Jesus was a God, he walked this Earth in a human body, so I guess it's just natural that he did have a human life, too. I don't see this as in any way offensive to him. What's all the indignation about?

. What's all the indignation about?
I think it's about St. Paul's writings. Paul either hated or feared women, possibly both, and clearly considered virginity and celibacy to be superior lifestyle choices, though he did concede that it's better to marry than burn. But he expected Jesus to return, and the end of the world, within his lifetime, and given that, it's reasonable to refrain from such long term commitments as marriage and parenting. The Bible doesn't say Jesus was married, nor does it say he wasn't, but as somebody (Zzarchov I think it was) pointed out, in Jesus' times the former state would have been much more worthy of comment than the latter for a man in his 30s. It seems Jesus' marital status was deemed unworthy of comment by the gospel writers, which suggests there was nothing unusual about it. Proves nothing though.

Christianity seems to me to have a great deal of difficulty with human sexuality and wants to put pretty strict limits on it, so somehow it's anathema to think Jesus might have had a sex life. Christianity--again as it seems to me--teaches that any expression of human sexuality is wrong, dirty, repulsive, and sinful, except under very carefully defined circumstances--i.e. within duly sanctioned marriage and for the purpose of having children-- and misses entirely its real nature, which is about a joyful emotional bonding between a man and a woman. Some priests I've spoken to seem to understand that, but they still insist on the limits. They lose me there.

The books from Quamran (spelling) do not agree with those of the bible in many respects, the wedding in Ghethenmini (spelling) is a story of christs marriage. It is well understood that the revisions of the books to form todays bible were done to remove Christs mundane qualitys.Especially his family life.

Because it contadicts the teachings of the Church and the Bible, and we feel it undermines the divinity of Christ.

Maybe you could help me understand something here all you good Christian folk....

Do you genuinely believe that a paradise of perfect peace exists somewhere...another dimension or across the universe or floating freely outside the universe...whatever....where the bodies of Jesus, Moses, Noah, Goliath...all your heros and saints....frolic in the prepetual shower of Perrier and rainbow sunlight....

If you asked me to believe that the "spirit" of these mythological entities existed in some Nirvana beyond the comprehension of mankind...well ok ...I believed in Santa Claus until I was three....

But you really really honestly believe that the body of Christ and all these figures from your desperately embraced delusion actually exist in some...other world?

And while I'm waiting for the next chapter in "Survivor....The Ultimate Challenge"...perhaps you can tell me why this floating up to this magical place stopped....
