I think with the right kind of help the Iranian people will overthrow their oppressive regime on their own. Send in some sneaky special forces types with the help of unhappy reisdents and foreign nationals and start to pick away at their mullahs power. Propaganda in this case may make all the difference. Throw in some strategic assasination and voila- regime change.

Nato should be involved right now to stop the destruction in Lebanon. If the U.S. has any influence with Israel, they should use it to stop the Israelis now. Without outside intervention it will go on until there is nothing left. Israel has threatened to bomb the place back to the stone age. The sad part is, that the Lebanese government has no influence over Hezbola and can't do anything to satisfy Israel, and Israel knows it. Most problems in the area, including the current fighting in Lebanon are related to the Israel/Palestinian conflict.
I dont think the solution to Middle East problems will be found in any action seen to be heavy handed . I think the Palestinians should be offered a reasonable Palestinian state, not the bad joke that was offered under Oslo. If the whole process were supervised by NATO, we might have a chance.

If I read the situation correctly, which is at best a guess on my part, it seems the ball is in Lebanon's court. Israel and Hezbullah are the combatants but Lebanon must make the decision to remove Hezbullah or at the very least try to limit their power base in the south. From what I've read Lebanon doesn't have the means to do so. Even with a 70,000 man army it is so ill equiped and under trained it can do little but occupy and watch. As for NATO entering the south i believe they cannot do so without an invitation from the Lebanese government. Sudan has refused the offer of NATO troops and having NATO force their way in is not only against international law but plays right into the hands of extremist propoganda. So again Lebanon must make the decision, invite NATO, use NATO to train your troops, and get the west to equip your army so they're effective. Lebanon must be able to defend its people from Syria, Iran, Israel and any other entity that does not respect its sovereignty.

I don't disagree at all it just gets me jittery thinking of a civil war within a country possibly possessing nuclear arms. Ya gotta hope the good guys get control of the "button" before the bad guys get desperate.
