It is all too true about Yanks and the delusional obsession with war. No matter how many times it is proven that wars are created to make profits for the wealthy, they remain blind to that truth. Nothing will ever open up their eyes and minds to this truth.

I hold you neither delusional nor obsessed with war, gopher. Just as I don't hold the American people responsible for making war - I reserve that for your politicians. I imagine many people were understandably appalled when President Obama engaged the country in the Libyan crisis - I doubt that is what they voted for when they chose him as their candidate.

I watched an episode of America: The Story of Us on History Channel last night. It happens that the period in history they were presenting covered the U.S. entry into WWII and the ensuing build up of the industries needed to support the war effort. I had forgotten that prior to the US participation in the war, the country was in the midst of a depression and laboring under widespread unemployment. Entry into the war took the country in less than three years to one of the wealthiest nations on earth and a powerhouse to be reckoned with. The basis of that wealth was the money earned by waging war and I would argue that the same applies today.

If Americans are indeed blind to the truth then this is the truth they need to grasp - that until the might and sway of the military-industrial complex is at least tamed if not brought to its knees, the American people will continue to see war waged. IMHO.

From what I see of the Republican party and their idiot cousins the Tea Party, I doubt that will happen anytime soon.
