Now that this flag debate is over, maybe we can ask what's driving black families to flee the North for the South.

Reversing what historians call the Great Migration of 1910-70, hundreds of thousands of blacks have migrated to the South in the last generation. Every year, more blacks move into the South than move out.

States that were the biggest Great Migration destinations — New York, Illinois, Michigan and California — are now contributing to the states with the biggest black population gains: Florida, Georgia and Texas.

Minnesota: Gopher State
We had a discussion about that in a NYC website and the answer is that living costs are much lower in the South than North and this is the principle reason why so many went back to their original homes in Dixie. And while black Americans are moving South note that the North has seen a huge influx of African blacks. Witness the recent news headlines about Somalis living in Gopherland who have allied themselves with radical Islamists. We have had a huge influx of Sudanese, Liberians, Nigerians, and Ethiopians as well.
