If anything, these results strengthen quantum gravity as a field, by eliminating some of the theories.

Quantum gravity, much like string theory, for a long time had the annoying habit of having no observable effects. So here you have a case where, up to a possible explanation as a Poisson noise event, they have placed rather tight constraints on a wide class of theories of quantum gravity.

Quantum gravity is falsifiable, that can only be a good thing in science.
