I don’t know how many of you follow the Archie comics. I used to read them regularly when our son was little. Now he has stopped reading them, but I still buy a book occasionally and read it.

Ever since Archie comics started, both Betty and Veronica have vied for Archie’s affection. It has been the eternal love triangle. Anyway, in a recent issue Archie popped the question to Veronica, and Veronica said yes.

Anyway, Archie marrying Veronica makes perfect good sense. Her father is a multimillionaire and she is the only child.

She will be able to keep Archie in Champaign and caviar as long as they are married. And when the marriage breaks up (as it inevitably will), Archie can collect a substantial settlement and will be set for life.

And then he can marry Betty. Knowing Betty, she would still be single, still pining for Archie. It is a win win situation all around.

Of course, this may not be the end of the story. By the end of the story, the marriage between Archie and Veronica may still be off.

I think he's selling his soul to the devil... Veronica will make Archie's life miserable and poor heart-broken Betty will have found someone else by the time Archie realizes his mistake...

On another note, I think Archie should have a threesome with both Betty and Veronica. Now THAT would make a good comic book!

By my reckoning, Archie was a teenager in 1939. This would make him about 83 years old by now and Veronica and Betty would be at least that old. Archie's wedding to Veronica will hardly be the sock hop ball of the year.....;-)

S_lone, we don’t always make right choices when it comes to love. In fact, more often than not we make wrong choices. Hence the high divorce rate.

Betty will have found someone else by the time Archie realizes his mistake

I don’t know, Betty comes across as having a martyr complex, someone who suffers in silence. It wouldn’t surprise me if she waits for Archie.
