Marie Poulin is a hockey machine. She has scored 70% of the goals the Canadian Women have scored in Olympic hockey since 2010. She is also the current record holder for scoring more goals in the Olympics than any other hockey player, male or female, in Winter Olympics history.

A future Hall of Famer no doubt.

I erred, Poulin has scored 7 out of the 10 goals the women have scored in Gold Medal games since 2010. The rest is accurate though.

Your team did all of Canada proud, Mo. And there's no disgrace to us in taking silver. Nor in being beaten by such an excellent team.
TSN did a wonderful retrospective of all the Olympic hockey games played by US and Canadians teams over the years. Players from both countries took part and talked about the competitions and skills on both sides. I thoroughly enjoyed it as it gave a great perspective on the respect each side has for the other. Your team played their hearts out, Tec and I have respect for them all.

This was particularly the case for skier Remi Lindholm, of Finland, who had to place a heat pack on his groin after finishing a 50-kilometre cross-country race at the Beijing Games on Saturday, Reuters reported.

Thatā€™s because his penis froze during the race. He pushed through freezing winds during the course of one hour and 16 minutes.

And itā€™s not the first time this has happened during a cross-country competition. A similar incident had occurred in Ruka, Finland, in 2021.

ā€œYou can guess which body part was a little bit frozen when I finished ā€¦ it was one of the worst competitions Iā€™ve been in. It was just about battling through,ā€ said Lindholm. ā€œWhen the body parts started to warm up after the finish, the pain was unbearable.ā€

With fear of frostbite during the race, organizers delayed its start and shortened it by 20 kilometres. While competitors wore thin layers of material on their body, their suits didnā€™t protect them from the cold.

The 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing attracted the smallest prime-time audience since NBCUniversal began broadcasting the games, according to viewership figures released by the network, amid a period of changing TV viewing habits.

NBC said its nightly coverage of the Beijing games attracted an average of 11.4 million prime time viewers, a 42% drop from the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, which brought a total average audience of 19.8 million viewers.

The closing ceremony drew just under 7 million prime-time viewers, according to preliminary estimates from NBC, which is a unit of Comcast Corp.

Its Peacock streaming service, however, logged its best 18-day period of usage during the games, attracting an average audience of 516,000 users in prime time, NBC said. The service offered 2,800 hours of coverage, including highlight videos of high-profile athletes such as U.S. gold medalists Chloe Kim, Erin Jackson and Nathan Chen, replays of events and viewing organized by sport.

USA Network, the NBCUniversal-owned cable network, attracted an average of 1.4 million prime-time viewers. Live coverage of the Winter Games helped USA Networks rank as the top sports and entertainment cable network in total day and prime time viewing since the opening weekend of the Beijing Olympics, NBC said, citing live-plus-same-day figures from Nielsen.

NBC Sports Chairman Pete Bevacqua issued a statement lauding the production teamā€™s efforts in the face of the ā€œunprecedented challenges over the past six months.ā€

Pandemic restrictions forced the competitions to take place in a bubble, leaving few spectators in the stands. The United States government staged a diplomatic boycott in protest of Chinaā€™s human rights record.
