BC NDP: Dump the monthly medical premium!!!!

I have problem with rich getting richer and poor getting poorer.

Yes, I agree.
We should DUMP monthly premium, it should be included within tax. 0.01% of poor income, 5% of rich income.
Fair enough.

Here is the URL tenpacks that says Warren Buffet pays less taxes than his secretary, 17% vs 30%.

To be clear, Buffet pays a smaller percentage of his income to the US gov't in taxes than his secretary does. This is fair?

Hmmmm - makes good reading, until you do the math:

Buffet - $46 million @ 17% = $7.82 million
Secretary - $60 grand @ 30% = 18 grand

This is fair?

Oh, I don't argue that we all have certain rights to our well-being in this country, but where does personal responsibility take over from Government largesse? Remember the Government HAS NO MONEY - they only have OUR money... yours, mine and the next persons.
I expect them to spend it where vital (I repeat vital) - a modest standard of living and health-care is part of that, yes.
I also expect those that are able to, to strive for their own betterment - not wait for it to be placed at their feet.

Well then the solution seems simple. Flat tax rate of 30%, same as the seceretary.

Quite frankly you tax Warren buffet 95% and it wouldn't impact his standard of living, so the idea he needs breaks while a working sec doesn't is ludicrous.

A flat tax rate for everyone, problem solved.

Flat tax? People who make $30,000 are just getting by. A flat tax on such a modest income is regressive. Doesn't taxing the rich at the same rate as the middle income people seem unfair?

Warren Buffet would not even feel a tax of 30% on his income, the secretary would. Buffet actually drives an old car and plays bridge with other geezers. He's in it for the thrill of making big bucks. For him, money is an easy game.

But of course they say, "capital" would flee if it is overburdened. Then why do they always want to cluster around such places like Bay Street and Wall Street? Taxes are likely lower in Congo or Uganda.

Glen Clark is a boob. Self-absorbed yuppie who didn't drop the monthly premium when he had the chance. This is strictly a no-brainer. No NDP action on this, I will vote for the Greens.

Until the BC NDP promise to eliminate the monthly medical premium and include dental work in the BC medical plan, I will park my vote with the Green party from now on. This is good for me right now. This is the best and simplest form of tax reform I know of.
