If you want to have jobs in BC you need to entuice big business whether you like it or not. Provincial governments have to compete.

do we really need 'big business' in order to do this, at the expense of every person who makes bc their home. i dunno, i still have the gut feeling that the people who benefit from that type of thinking are those who have the most already.

I don't think you understand economics very well. It is the old UNION mentality that put us down the hole in the first place.

If you think you can sustain an economy such as ours without big business, you should go and take an econ 101 course!

i am talking about 'big business' in the sense of very large corporations here in bc which benefitted very well during the last four years in terms of tax write offs and reduced taxes. i am not talking about businesses which we all know we need to run an economy. i mean those businesses which tip the table where monies could be spent to help individuals they have gone to help the corporations.

i mean the forest industries, the mining industries which have paid back the liberals thru donations and made one heck of a lot of money in the last four years in return - by having less 'government interference' in their plans.

Hey mom lets play nice with sig he is one of us...living in lotusland.
Sig can you list or show any new job creations that the liberals have done since coming into power. What new business have they created? I do feel his policies on the enviroment will decrease our tourist trade. Many people come here for the beauty and the wilderness, not to see a mcdonalds in manning park. The commericalization of nature will not work, I feel this strongly and if you speak with any european tourist they will tell you the same thing.
Making a fast buck off nature might help the coffers, but in the long run it will only do more damage to the province. What are your thoughts on this.

well...lets not go wild here!

Here are the facts:

Since 2001: 200,000 new jobs - 97% of which are full-time positions.

Dec '04: Unemployment rate dropped to 6.1% - the lowest monthly rate since June 1981.

After-tax family income grew at five times the national average in 2002. In 2001, income grew at 4.7%, the largest increase in after-tax income in 20 years.

For the first time in almost seven years, B.C. is recording a net increase in inter-provincial migration.

The proportion of B.C.'s workforce making 16 dollars an hour or more is higher than any other province in Canada at 57.2%.

These are jobs created mainly in the private sector. Remember the NDP's way of creating jobs: increase the size of the BCGEU.

I don't know where that came from but a poll of my kids school will tell you thats a lie 8O Nobodys income around here has grown like that and we are considered middle class.Maybe in Vans British propertys .The only ones who benifited from that tax cut were the rich just like the W's tax cut .Trickle down economics yea right !Thats the feeling taxpayers get from the goverment pissing all over us

you know, i always thought that government was in power to represent all the people....not just corporations.

Since 2001: 200,000 new jobs - 97% of which are full-time positions.

yeah, no doubt, seeing how the new minimum wage is $6 an hour.

Dec '04: Unemployment rate dropped to 6.1% - the lowest monthly rate since June 1981.

well that's kinda weird. according to stats can the bc unemployment rate is higher than it has ever been since the mid 1980's - well above 7% with the interior reaching double digits. mind you, that is stats can. but then i don't have the ol' spin doctor to put a twist on stuff either.

The proportion of B.C.'s workforce making 16 dollars an hour or more is higher than any other province in Canada at 57.2%.

but what about the fact that the bc workforce average use to be $17.80 and the alberta wage is $18.04? what happened there? mind you, the $17.80 was under the ndp government.......

so the liberals have managed to create quite a few 'private sectors' with hydro, health industry, long term care to name a few.

Merging them is going to be confusing as heck.

Which one do you guys want locked? The other one has the poll, this one has more stats, I believe. Not really having followed BC politics this election, I can't really make the call myself.
