British Columbia's government called for changes to the Canada Health Act and promised sweeping changes to the province's health-care system in a throne speech on Tuesday.

The speech, read by Lieutenant-Governor Iona Campagnolo on behalf of Premier Gordon Campbell's Liberal government, opened a new session of the B.C. legislature.

The government said the current health-care system is not sustainable and "the status quo is not an option."

"The current health-care system is not sustainable"????

There you have it folks, the Federal Liberals have starved and rationed our Health Care System for years so that it is now "unsustainable" and so our Right Wing Provincial Liberals are planning to open it up to the for-profit health care providers.

Gordon Campbell does not want to save public health care. It looks like I'll never get back to BC at this rate.

While the Premier of British Columbia may not be planning to salvage public health care as a means to an end, it should be interesting to see how the health care system is adapted to make it more sustainable; the speech delivered by the Honourable Iona Campagnolo, the Lieutenant-Governor of British Columbia presented some interesting points.

I am in favour of public health care; it should be interesting to see how this is going to work.
