Yes the old man is in fact a young man (or woman) in the disguise of an old man (or woman) .

The soul (or spirit) does not become old or elderly; it is only the material body which undergoes the ageing.

Therefore, if a man acquires cataract in his eye, his sight will be obscured to some extent; but it is the eye of the body which has the cataract, while the soul sight is intact ..

this is just that when one wears dark glasses, he cannot see well; but on removing the dark opaque glasses, he can see clearly.

So the soul is powerful, active and intact, while it is the body that becomes elderly, and its powers decline all together by time.

So I proceed ..

It is not the eyesight that becomes blind; it is the hearts which become blind.
This is in the Quran 22: 46, which means:

(Have they d not journeyed throughout the earth e, so they might have hearts with which they understand [what befell the deniers], or ears with which they hear [the tales of the ancient?]

For, indeed, it is not the ‘sights’ f out of the [special senses] that become blind, but it is the hearts which are within the chests [of bodies] that become blind [by non-perception and non-discerning.] g )
...............................................................

46 d i.e. the disbelievers of Mecca.
46 e To search about the ruins of the deniers, whom We destroyed before, to see their ruins and take lesson from their stories.
46 f The ‘sight’ is one of the special senses of the soul, while the special sense of the body is called ‘eye’.
46 g And it is not the ‘spiritual hearts’ of souls.

I here remember some words of the Christ - salam to him; he awoke his disciples and said to them arise to pray, and when he saw them idle, he said: the soul is active, while the body is idle.

============================================================

To see the differences between the special senses of the soul and those of the body, it is in the book Man after Death, by the interpreter of the Quran and the Bible, Mohammed-Ali Hassan Al-Hilly
