If the three Canadian political parties are:
HERE --- then facism is over -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> HERE
A good point. None of our politicians sound like Benito or Adolf, but there are elements that do creep in.

It's wrong to think that fascism is only an extreme right wing philosophy, it isn't. That old colorful governor of Louisiana (what was his name, Hugh Long or something) was asked if fascism would ever come to America. He said yes, but it would come disguised as anti-fascism. Look at political correctness, campus speach codes, suppression of politically incorrect speach and activities. It's coming at us and we don't seem to recognize what it is.

RE: Are the Conservatives

I would say the Conservatists ever get elected they will be a facist government but not as bad as the republicans in America for now. Harper is a bushite wannabe as far as I am concerned.

If the Conservatives ever get elected (they won't with Harper) he will destroy "equality" as we know it. It will be like the early 60's in the american south all over again.

RE: Are the Conservatives

Why do you say  this?

We will go back 40 years socially if Harper and his lunatics get in. Just listen to some of them. Just look at all the social injustice in America, do you want that? Bush is Harpers idol and he will do the same.

Well maybe Jay did say it perfectly, but only to a very narrow minded group of people, and sorry but last time I looked they were not running this country, and they won't be either...You people FAIL over and over again to understand Your view on morality are DEPRAVED to most canadians...How many ways do the people of this country have to tell you that.

"How many ways do the people of this country have to tell you that."

Ya, lets stop being conservatives folks, no use in it anymore. That way People like Pea can have us go to work everyday for themselves and bring home nothing for our families or our futures. Then they might stop calling Us greedy ( but I doubt it ).

At least these zealots don't believe in mass theft.

RE: Are the Conservatives

there are alternatives to the Reform/Alliance/Conservatives, Jay. While you guys are all screaming about Liberal corruption to shift attention from your own corruption and your unpopular, backwards policies, you've missed that.

"You people"? First of all, only the people on the very fringe of the party have what you might call "depraved" morals. Secondly, the conservative party membership is not monolithic in its opinions. Like all parties, there is a range of opinions.

RE: Are the Conservatives

The leadership of the party supports those policies, MMMike. The party voted to make them official. Your agenda isn't hidden anymore, but it hasn't changed.

I don't distract from it Rev.

There may be alternatives, but they haven't the massive numbers we need to push for change.

Like I said these zealots don't believe in mass theft, and that IMHO is a start. We will work on the rest.

Corruption stems from political parties that grow arrogant from being in a position of unchallenged power for too great a period of time. The best way for the public to address this corruption is to toss them on their keisters when it comes voting time.

The Conservatives are finally united and ready to show the Liberals the door. There social policies are not radically different then what we have now (marriage - would a rose by any other name smell as sweet?), and getting fresh blood into parliament to purge government from those that have abused their postions.

The Conservatives that I have the pleasure of knowing are some of the friendliest and hardest working people you will possibly find. Good, honest, down-to-earth type of people.

Yes you do. Every time you promote sound-bites over informed opinion and thought, every time you misconstrue the policies of other parties, every time you gloss over the history of graft and corruption with the Conservative ranks, you distact from it.

There may be alternatives, but they haven't the massive numbers we need to push for change.

"I didn't go their because there weren't enough people." There will never be enough people if you don't go there. A more moderate party such as the Progressive Canadians would have a much better chance of actually weinning an election because their policies more closely match the mainstream.

Like I said these zealots don't believe in mass theft, and that IMHO is a start.

Mulroney was at the convention...an esteemed guest. You should re-think your statement...it is lacking the element of reality.

Mulroney was PC. They are gone now…. The only party I’m aware of fully endorsing isn’t going to win the election, ever.

I know the NDP in Ontario are going to raise taxes if they get elected as they said so when they ran against Mike Harris. I know the NDP In Ontario were going to put up cameras on the 401 and take pictures of speeders on the 401, and send a bill to people who were caught by these cameras.

Those two reasons alone are enough to not vote NDP, and to believe at the federal level they can’t be trusted with power.

I can’t vote Liberal for obvious reasons, and its time for a change in ideas.

Mulroney is a major influence within the party and is credited by most Conservatives with facilitating the Alliance takeover...er merger...with the PCs. Do you even follow politics, jay?

So your deep political analysis is that you don't want to pay bills and support dangerous driving? Quite the platform. By the way, you do understand the difference between provincial and federal politics, don't you?

I can’t vote Liberal for obvious reasons, and its time for a change in ideas.

Inability to mark an "x"? Allergies to the colour red? Fear of deep integrations with the US? Hatred of homosexuals?

Better spell it us for us, Jay. You won't like the conclusions I draw.

The change in ideas will be socially regressive, and will place us back to a pre-Charter society.

I know some people think this would be advantageous. People who have no qualms about discriminating against people of other race, or religion, or sexual orientation.

Canada as a whole, has a socially progressive, multi-cultural perspective, that should be respected by ANY government in power.

In addition, I see no evidence that the Conservatives are impervious to corruption, or even that they would maintain any semblence of fiscal responsibility. To me, privatization of essential services is not the answer.

I'm thinking now that they haven't called for an election because in defeating the budget, they would also defeat the Atlantic Accord, and lose any possibility of gaining or keeping their seats in the Newfoundland and Nova Scotia, seats that they will need, because they haven't a chance of making any headway in Quebec. Everybody knows that.
