Ireland is a tax haven. Its very low corporation tax means that it attracts companies such as Apple. But, unlike many in the British Parliament who want to see big corporations pay more taxes in the UK, the Irish government WANTS corporations to pay minimal taxes to attract them to the Irish Republic. That's up to them. Or, at least, it should be. What is shocking in this case is that the EU is overruling the taxation policy of an elected government. So unelected bureaucrats in Brussels are telling the elected government of the Irish Republic that it cannot use its own taxation system! Had such a thing like the EU excusted in North America it would be like unelected, mainly foreign bureaucrats in Tegucigalpa dictating what tax system can and cannot be used in Canada. You can see why so many people voted for Brexit.
