I tried Immigrating to China, but after 10 years, it isn't going so well. Now it's time to try Canada, this time with my wife and child in tow. I've done a lot of research and decided BC would be great. So, now I have 101 questions that only people on the ground will know.

I don't have a great deal of savings nor am I university educated, so I must decide carefully on which city to choose. Please guys, don't suggest Vancouver. I'm not a big city guy. I'm looking for somewhere with a population of about 1 million. Lot's of work with a low crime rate. Possibly even a small Chinese influence. Job security and low costs are my primary concern.

Visa wise, the Northeast development region sounds promising, but Google hasn't much to offer.

Any suggestions?

I would also like to know more about average Joe's cost of living, salary, rent etc...

Unless you have special skills as identified by Immigration Canada, your wasting your time.

Skills I have, qualifications I don't. Looking on their website I qualify under B, C and D, the latter two being in Northeast. Possibly also the management 0. I guess it all comes down to securing a job.

Well depending on what your applying for, you have to have the appropriate qualifications, Canadian qualifications that is..

You should also be aware that jobs are only given to immigrants if no Canadian can fill the position.

Not sure what your referring to on Management, do you want a corner office as soon as you get here?

In this country 1 million is a Big City-and all of BC has only 4.4 million.

FWIW-the only place you're likely to find work is a backwoods hellhole like Fort St John-you are Welcome to it.

Also-jobs are scarce & job security largely non existent.

BC is a high cost of living province, and there is no job security
secondly Canada is having its own problems we shed over 39
thousand jobs last month. and similar the month before.
Outside of Richmond and Vancouver you won't find a large
Chinese population either although there are many scattered
throughout the Province My neighbours are Chinese Canadians
having moved here about twenty years ago.

BC does not promote industries into their province.
BC seems to think that if they promote everything Green, then everything will be fine.

It's not working for BC, or anyone else for that matter. But BC residence still want high wages, so they pay more tax to pay the high wages, then everybody wants higher wages to pay for the high taxes. It's just a dog chasing its own tail!!
