ITN, have no fear. It's not only American's being prescribed anti-depressants. Canadians are doing the same.

I personally know a 11yrd old who is currently being prescribed anti-depressants. It has nothing to do with school pressure. But rather a extremely ignorant former junky hooker mom that's causing her depression.

The new (and truly improved) anti depressant meds have helped a LOT of people with the depressive syndrome. I have no quarrel with meds that are prescribed appropriately , and if they really help a person function better. The causes of depression are numerous and not only situational,.....as many times it is a deficiency in the body too -ergo the chronicity factor.

abuse of "recreational" drugs is another story of course.---as then the addictive process/cycle sets in and intensive treatment is warranted.
