Britain has a much younger population than the other major Continental European countries. The populations of Germany and Italy are shrinking, whereas Britain will still grow for many years. That's why we'll soon overtake Germany as Europe's largest economy.

A few months ago, I read that within 20 years, Britain won't just have one of the youngest populations in Europe, but will also have a younger population even than the United States and Canada, two countries which have traditionally had much younger populations than Britain.

I also wouldn't say that Muslims are flooding into Britain at an alarming rate. We have one of the smallest Muslims populations in Europe. France has the same population as Britain but has three times as many Muslims. Britain probably also just about have a smaller Muslim population than Canada, and our overall population is twice as large as yours. In just ten years, between 1991 and 2001, the Muslim population in Canada DOUBLED in size, whereas in Britain it stayed about the same.

Interesting, I guess I was way off. You hear soo much about the aging population of Europe, but I guess the UK is bucking the trend. I am also aware of the muslim population in Canada which has grown exponentially the last few years.

According to the CIA- world fact book the muslim population of Canada was just about 2% in 2001, and considering our immigration rates I can only predict that number will be much higher come the results of the 2006 census. According to the same site, the UK Pakistani population was 1.3% in 2001 (muslim population figures were not there), and obviously muslims come from other countries, not just Pakistan. So I would have to belive that the Muslim population in the UK by overall numbers is much greater than in Canada, if the population is not larger % wise as well.

Of couse Ill try and avoid a heart attack when we get the 2006 census stats. :roll:

Checks @ the airport is just stupid...i mean...not to dis any Islamic people using this website....Not all terrorist are Islamic...there could be *other religions* planning an attack...
