what i really love is the way that the chaos in the US is changing things here in CA. The place i work used to get paid by American corps in American dollars. Now because of the huge fluctuations in value, their last contract was done in CA dollars. Sniff... makes me so proud.

RE: A shiver runs round t

One of the most telling things about the US dollar is that drug dealers and gun runners are switching to the Euro. Those boys have taken nothing but US dollars since the end of WWII.

If Hugo Chavez can convince OPEC to switch to the Euro he will. All that's stopping him right now is Saudi Arabia. That will likely change if Bush attacks Iran.

I thought Bush's Inauguration and the speech that went with it was pretty much a non-event. It's the same crap he's been spewing for years and the only people buying it are the ones that were sold from the beginning.

Cheer up, Pycrete.

Look at this way...a lot of us grew up with the sure knowledge that some stupid lout was going to nuke us all anyway. Things really haven't changed that much since 1970.

I'm a little taller now. ;-)

Disastrous from our point of view; not from his. The neo-cons have been planning to put an end to the New Deal for a long time. There is a core of supra rich who always thought Roosevelt was a traitor. These people operate on a different plane from the rest of us. For them, the Great Depression was a good thing.

There is a core of supra rich who always thought Roosevelt was a traitor. These people operate on a different plane from the rest of us.

And, for an instant, she stared directly into those soft blue eyes and knew, with an instinctive mammalian certainty, that the exceedingly rich were no longer even remotely human.

I did indeed mean "disastrous for the little people". There are some who believe that missile defense, the War on Terror/Iraq etc. are all really just ways for the neo-cons to bankrupt the US government, thus allowing them to completely gut the last semblances of social programs and constraints on big business, because there'll be no money for anything anymore. The government would be reduced to paving the roads, and taxing citizens to pay for the army, which would travel abroad to enforce corporate interests. A little tinfoil-hat as such but definitely food for thought.

Hi! NSA

I agree with your view as you stated it.

I'm not into conspiracies so I don't think that the U.S. government had involvement in 9-11. It happened and I only fault the government for failing to recognize the warnings or red-flags.

But, I do think that governments hire the smartest people on the planet. They hire people to forecast world events. I believe that our governments knew or recognized the collapse of the U.S. economy. It happened to the USSR as their military spent themselves into bankruptcy and it had to happen in the USA as well. It is only common sense.

Delta airlines just announced that they lost 2.2 billion dollars in the last 90 days! That is astounding. It only cost 4 billion a month to fight the Iraq war and Delta lost half that amount in 3 months.

All the airlines are going bankrupt and all the employee pension plans are guaranteed by the US government Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. And yuh know what? .... Even this outfit is bankrupt!

That company Di-Tech who advertises loans on TV .... they sold bonds and raised billions. But .... they were actually "junk" bonds because they took the money and lent it to people without even checking their credit.
A pretty good scam eh?

The car companies are giving their cars away. They don't check your credit now either.
In fact, they will give you a 3 thousand dollar "rebate" ..... which is simply signed back-over to the car company so that he can call it a down payment.

It seems that the only thing that America can export is anarchy!

RE: A shiver runs round the world as Bush bangs the drum for

You people are just focused too much on reality. Back here in red state fantasyland folks still worship bush. Everyone thinks the economy is great because we can quit our lowpaying job whenever they want and become a millionaire. Their daydreams of the US turning its back on the rest of the world and enforcing its will unilaterally has been realized. There is no room for real facts here in la la land we prefer vague, but glorious sounding catchphrases like "freedom" and "war on terror", "support the troops", "lower taxes" etc. Don't wake us up.
