RE: A new Canada: would y

I don't think Canada will be falling apart, joining another country, or making any major changes away from what were accomplishing. I believe Canada has come the closest to achieving a perfect functioning system, and a little government corruption or a stagnent political period isn't going to stop it as long as people like me are around. The US is hardly a shining example of a civilized nation, and suggesting that they are superior to us is treason in my eyes.
The only problem that our country is facing is that we're making steps towards no concrete goal. We need a leader that can define his vision, and lay out a plan to see that change take place.Another obvious problem is that we're trying to dictate social function through law, when our focus should be to accomidate social function through law. Government can't be supporting one persons ideals as to what is desireable, and deny another persons, as the only result is contempt between citizens as they cease to be equals. Uniting through acceptance and tolerance is possible, but defining it through policy creates conflict. The first thing people should know is that through the acceptance of others, we become accepted. We also must except that things such as substance abuse have been around for most of civilized man, it's very much part of our culture, and policies to reduce the impact to society overall should be our goal over prohibition.

The best we can do is to reduce the impact of the negatives on society, and focus on equal rights and tolerance. I don't think governments can function perfectly, and the best we can do is what we should be focusing on. We can fix it, we only need to set the goal and lay out the framework to achieve it.

"We can fix it, we only need to set the goal and lay out the framework to achieve it."

THAT is exactly what i am suggesting.

We are by no means near perfect. That is why we need to seek to create a better, new canada. A revolution in our thinking to break the bonds of legacy that only hold us back.
