Sure the answer was obvious, JLM. Islam refers to the religion, Muslims refers to the follower. That is why I was surprised that you asked such a simple question (what is more, kept on asking it), that is not like you.

Obvious to you maybe. I've never pretended to be cognizant about different religions and have not studied any of them. Islam, Muslim are just words to me, but I was told by someone that Islam is the pure religion, Muslim is just a watered down version so that's what my knowledge or lack there of was based on. But to get real S.J. my understanding is no more astounding than your "understanding" of Liberals and Conservatives, which is approximately the same as my understanding of foreign religions.

Quoting JLM Attn- DhW- were you going to explain the difference between Islam and Muslim to me? If not does anyone else know?

Quite so, Dexter. I thought JLM was being a wise guy, that he didn't really expect an answer. That is why I didn't answer him.

But Muslim and Islam really is no different that Christian and Christianity, Hindu and Hinduism, Buddhist and Buddhism, Sikh and Sikhism etc.

S.J. Since you were so intent on making me look like an idiot in front of the whole forum- maybe you should read the following site and enhance your somewhat meagre knowledge of Islam and Muslim (which pretty well coincides with my understanding in the first place) In short they are NOT the same.....

Islamic Values vs. Muslim Values :: Domain of Islam :: Islamic Audio Lectures MP3 English Arabic NASHEEDS Articles Books Forum

Did you happen to read through that site beyond the page that you linked to?

I would compare it to an evangelical christian site commenting on Catholicism.

No, I didn't Gerry, all I was trying to establish was that there is a difference.

The difference is in that particular sects minds only. Just like there are Christian sects that say that Catholics are not Christian.

Thanks Gerry, that's two things I learned today. I know back years ago when I was a kid the Catholic Church was always referred to as "High Church", but I suppose now with all the shenangigans coming to light in the Catholic schools, some "Christians" would try to distance themselves.

There's a lot more to it than that, and I would love to discuss it with you but at the moment we are about to watch 2012 on bluray.
