Lets not pretend that conspiracy theories don't work both ways. If we only listened to the alarmists, every Arab/Muslim on the planet is conniving to build nuclear weapons, trying to become a suicide bomber, or hating America's freedoms. It's pretty balanced on both sides.

p.s. Saddam's nuclear weapons program was the biggest delusional conpiracy theory of all time.

YES!

That is absolutely correct.

The Right has their share of whack-jobs as well. Remember Vince Foster? Or the black UN helicopters hovering around America?

What was the Vince Foster thingee again. That had something to do with Clinton murdering people, didn't it? I honestly don't remember the specifics but do remember Bill being somewhat of a modern day Jack the Ripper at some point.

Vince Foster committed suicide and all these conspiracists said that Clinton had him killed.

Whoa.

Never heard that one before. Sounds completely nuts. Did it apparently have something to do with him getting a blow job from Monica Lewinski??

Well you see , we can agree there, you finally admit, that these conspiracist are in fact, right wing conservatives. This was from the link you provided.

right-wing political groups have continued to allege that there was more to the death and that the president and first lady tried to cover it up."

I watched that debate, I would beat the shit out of those two punks if they talked to me like that.

He called the man a liar right in his face, he wouldn't have had any teeth left after that if it had have been me, not to mention hed be lacking a voice box, and probably have a much flatter nose.. and that would be before I even realized what I was doing.

No kidding, eh.. I'd be tempted to do the same, that's for sure.

It's a sad fact in too many debates that I have seen, where you see one side resort to namecalling and mudslinging. When both sides are doing it, it's hardly a debate anymore. But when one side does it, and the other side just acts patiently and continues to make their points, it really says a lot.

Its not about Left or Right wing

That's correct.

Anyhow, seems like we aren't getting much of anything worthwhile from the opposing viewpoint in this particular thread. Does that mean the discussion is gonna be over pretty soon? I hope not.

I hope they speak up soon. I encourage people to watch the video. It's a good place to start this discussion at, I believe.

Maybe to get some sort of discussion going, I'll post a bit of the transcript, and we can talk about that for now.

AMY GOODMAN: Dylan, what about the issue of cell phones?

DYLAN AVERY: The issue of cell phones is that for a majority of Flight 93’s flight, it was flying over cruising altitude, and a number of these -- now, a majority of the phone calls were coming from air phones. But the cell phone calls were coming from cruising altitude. Now, it is pretty much impossible in 2001 to sustain an extended conversation over a cell phone at cruising altitude from a commercial airliner. But, I mean, that's not our strongest evidence. I mean, that’s just one of the many things about that day that don't add up to us.

And we haven't gotten to hear the cockpit voice recorder. We haven't gotten to hear any of these alleged phone calls. I mean, the government is cherry-picking the evidence that it releases to the government. And I feel that if our government was truly attacked by surprise and we had absolutely no inclination of the attacks, they would not be so reticent to release the 84 videos from the Pentagon, the cockpit voice recorder of Flight 93. The list of things that the government is holding from us goes on.

AMY GOODMAN: David Dunbar.

DAVID DUNBAR: With regard to the cell phones, we did what any reporter would do. We talked to experts in the field. And, in fact, cell phones do work at that altitude, up to 35,000 feet and higher. And --

DYLAN AVERY: In 2001?

DAVID DUNBAR: In 2001, and it might be instructive for you to talk to some of the cell phone experts. There are a lot of dropped calls, because the plane is moving at high-speed and the hand-off sometimes get dropped. That’s true, and we know from the public record that, in fact, a lot of the cell phone calls were cut off. And most of the phone calls were made from the air phones. But nevertheless, talk to the experts, and you’ll find out that you can make a cell phone call from a commercial plane.

This should be an easy one to start with... Did cells phones work at all on flights prior to 2001 or didn't they?

Cell towers can concievably send a signal 50 kilometres or more. The problem lies in that most cell towers are powered down and overlapped for better service and the ability for the cell phones to send a signal back to the tower. Not to mention the fact that your going 4x the speed of a car on a freeway. Have you ever tried talking on your cell on the 401 at 120? It's my experience that it becomes choppy, now imagine that but 4x worse.

Common sense would tell me that it is near impossible to make a cell phone call from a plane. Nowadays though they are puttin cell transmitters in the back of planes to boost the signal and make it possible to have a conversation. If any cell calls were made they were probably of poor quality and incoherant.
