VANCOUVER — Health Canada insiders are raising concerns about millions of dollars in federal funds provided to a First Nations health organization that is set to take over responsibility for all aboriginal health services in British Columbia.

The First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) will soon replace Health Canada in delivering aboriginal health care in B.C., an unprecedented transfer of power and money that includes $2.5-billion in government payments over the next five years.

But the FNHA has already directed millions of dollars to programs that lack clear objectives, according to Health Canada documents obtained by the National Post. Numerous financial “discrepancies” and “differences” have also been identified.

Oh look, another good news story for taxpayers......as if BC didn't have enough financial problems. :angry4: How much is it we owe the Feds for the HST fiasco? That is a rhetorical question.

If any of you are wondering why you're not getting good value for your tax dollars, look no further. $2.5B would have just about paid for a new Port Mann bridge, with no tolls. Tolls, fees and medical premiums are everywhere because tax dollars are wasted in many areas.

Although they seem like Harperites, finding out how money is spent will be a mystery. Don't take pot shots at Mexico or some other developing country over corruption, we have plenty.

I caught a piece of a thing on the radio{CBC] the other day, comparing the amount of money a reserve gets to what a similar sized municipality gets, and the difference is staggering. The reserves get wAAAYYY more money and apearently don't have to have receipts.
No I don't have links,I didn't make it up,and there was more to it,but I can't see where it would be any better.
But,seeing as steve and the tory hacks that do his bidding seem pretty reluctant to show their reciepts,I guess it part of the NWO.

Reserves are "nations" so they do not have to be accountable to another nation-Canada. So they do whatever they wish when they get money from Canada. The fed govt treats them as if they have sovereignty. It is a legal relationship, not a political one. Sovereign nations do not depend on other sovereign nations. Only in the make believe world of Canadian law can it be done.

The honour of the crown just means money from the crown. No sharp dealing is permitted, these country people are not going to be ripped off like hillbillies, no, the fed govt is the kind father, a sugar daddy with plenty of cash to bestow on his little children. That's not how the queen in right deals with EI for ordinary people, for that you get very little and you wait and wait.

Reserves are mini-provinces to the fed govt, with their own spheres of powers the feds cannot "legally" encroach on such as education, health and social services. Corruption is legal is Canada. So we get fees/bridge tolls/medical premiums to make up for the waste.

Reserves are not nations. They are actually a 'band government' and are accountable to those who give them money. They are not a sovereign nation.

Band councils would be more accurate. Government is a comprehensive system and bands do not have that. Bands run small towns and are local, a govt is not not local, if it is, it is only a city council so we know.

OK, while I hate seeing waste by government, I have to confess that I am underwhelmed by a $4 million tag vs the other billions squandered by our various governments...
