It is no secret that it has not been a good year for political conservatives in Canada.
The Conservatives, and their official or unofficial conservative counterparts in the provinces, have lost eight consecutive provincial and federal elections. However, it looks like 2016 could be the year that conservatives make a bit of a political comeback.
All indications seem to be that The Honourable Brad Wall MLA, Premier of Saskatchewan, and his Saskatchewan Party, are poised to retake a majority government. They are polling at 54%, and the next-place party is the New Democrats, all the way down at 25%. Conservatives (the Saskatchewan Party) look ready to sweep the legislature.
In Manitoba, the unpopularity of the New Democrats under The Honourable Greg Selinger MLA, Premier of Manitoba, are setting up the perfect political circumstances for the Progressive Conservatives to take the reins of the next legislature, if they can take advantage of vote-splitting.
