The Nobel Prize in Physics this year includes a Canadian! One half of the prize goes to Charles K. Kao from Standard Telecommunication Laboratories and Chinese University of Hong Kong for "groundbreaking achievements concerning the transmission of light in fibers for optical communication". The remaining half of the prize is split between Willard S. Boyle, born in Amherst NS, and George E. Smith, both from Bell Laboratories, for "the invention of an imaging semiconductor circuit – the CCD sensor".

Congratulations to all Laureates. Great to see another Canadian being honoured for our contributions to the world!
