    Canada Post, Efficient as Ever!

So yesterday I wanted to ship a small parcel to the US. I went on line, did the click-to-ship thing, where you can print out everything and pay for shipping, and then drop it in a mailbox, which I did. Dropped it in a mailbox last night. Today, in the mail, I get my package. Great service...

Thoughts re: Florida's 'Self Defense' Law

Okay, so let's accept as a given that, if you feel you are being threatened, you are legally allowed to shoot and kill another person. This is a Florida law, people seem to think it's a good idea. By this logic, it would be legal for someone, say a soldier who is being deployed to an active...

RCMP cameras with crime photos found in trees

This is hilarious. The RCMP put cameras in trees to take pictures of a suspected graffiti artist. Not only did they set them up with a flash (no, that wouldn't be obvious), but they didn't erase the memory cards in the cameras. I'm pretty sure that would violate all kinds of privacy laws...

    SCC Decision on Consent

This is weird. The Supreme Court has ruled that consent must be an ongoing state of mind...it comes from a case where a woman, who regularly engaged in choking/sex, complained about what her partner did to her while she was unconscious. So here's a warning to men - you must not participate...

    Well, Danny, me son, Goodbye

So Danny Williams is resigning as premier. Seems that he has accomplished what he wanted, a deal to develop the Lower Churchill, and now he's going to pack it in. I certainly didn't agree with everything he did, but you can't say he was indecisivie or vague.

    The Next Star

Okay, yeah, I have two pre-teen daughters, so YTV is often on. Tonight is the 'finale' for this season's 'The Next Star', essentially, it's a 'Idol' type show for young performers (say, 13 to 18 years old). They're leading up to the big finale in about a half hour; one of the music videos in...
