    The scientific approach

You are confusing change of direction with speed, which should already answer both your questions. The effect is called gravitational lensing. Since light always moves at a constant speed, lensing changes the direction of the velocity of the light but not it's actual velocity. I also think you...

    The scientific approach

Yes, it does and it's been demonstrated and proven. Light isn't just a wave, it's also made of particles called photons. Since photons have mass (albeit very negligible) light can be bent by gravity. We see it when it makes contact with huge gravity wells like those found around black holes, but...

    The scientific approach

Wrong. Gravity still exists in the expanse of space. Just because you can't feel it acting on you doesn't mean it's not there. If we look at the ISS, we tend to say the astronauts are living in a zero-g environment but that's incorrect. Gravity is what's keeping the ISS from flying out into...

    The scientific approach

That won't cut it. All you'd be doing is very temporarily overcoming gravity.

You just proved I exist. If I didn't exist you couldn't exhort me to prove I exist.

    The scientific approach

We have seen the universe in it's earliest days. Have you actually, visually seen God with your own eyes? Science: Man observes the universe and all its wonders. Develops theories, some of which become laws as more experiments, information and observations prove their validity. Religion: A...

If the locals were anything like me, they were probably just having some good fun screwing with him

What Are You Having For Dinner?

Update: The fried roast pork on a kaiser with Swiss cheese was freakin' awesome. Tried another experiment for yesterday's dinner. A roast pork omelet with extra-old cheddar cheese and mushrooms, with a nice drizzle of pork gravy over top. All I can say is, I'm a culinary genius

Electrician-turned stripper removes 6 ribs to look like 'living cartoon'

Which is odd because he is quite a boob. Well, I don't know about other countries but in Canada, the govt will pay for gender reassignment surgery whereas they won't pay to have several ribs removed just for sh*ts and giggles.

What Are You Having For Dinner?

Looking forward to trying an experiment tomorrow for supper. My wife makes a fried roast beef on a kaiser that would make you want to walk through a snowstorm just to wait in line for an hour to get one. We have some left over pork roast so she's going to fry some of it up and slap it on a...

China Says NO to New Concessions in Paris

FFS dumba$$, do you think Canada is the only one on the list that exports energy products? Obviously the numbers are skewed for every friggin' fossil fuel exploiting country then. Or did you not think of that before rushing to try and score some imaginary internet points?

China Says NO to New Concessions in Paris

Who cares? Even when our oil fields were running full bore we still generated only half the annual GHGs that international shipping does. In 2010 Canada accounted for a whopping 1.7% of global GHG generation while the US and China combined for almost 40% of the total.

    Big Bang: Time

Because you are confusing the Big Bang Theory with the now disproven "Big Bang-Big Crunch-Big Bang Theory". What past and recent corroborating evidence shows is the farther away an object is from us, the faster it's moving away from us. Inflation Theory says this shouldn't be happening but the...

    Antartic Ice Growing

Humans will have been loooooong extinct by then lol And no, as the sun approaches it's demise it's going to get hot, really really hot. As it expands it will engulf the planet, completely sterilizing it and leaving behind a burnt chunk of rock before it goes nova or turns into a brown dwarf...

    Antartic Ice Growing

Erm, not that I'm an alarmist or bought into the whole AGW thing but, past warm-ups were immediately preceded by a quick cool down. IIRC it goes something like this; As the icecaps melt, the cold water cools down the ocean in it's area. Currents then spread the cooling around. Same with...
