    That Man Ain't Right!!!

I've seen plenty of photos of CplWilliams, and, hindsight, it's easy to say 'That Man Ain't Right!!' But, there've been others in my life too, that haven't hit the media, that have made me say 'no-oh... that man ain't right!!!' Coming up in tonight's conversation, Billy Corgin of the Smashing...

    New Rib Rub

I hate to say it but they were a royal flop here. The kids complained that it was not nearly as good as my usual method... slow cooker with BBQ sauce, and then finished on the grill with another generous glazing of sauce. The meat just didn't get as tender and sweet.

NPR Causes Hell to Freeze Over

The US National Public Radio has caused hell to freeze over with its firing of Juan Williams for his statements about how he feels when boarding a plane with someone who is a visible Muslim. How has it acheived this? It's gotten Bill O'Reilly, and Whoopi Goldberg, on the heels of their very...

Internet Usage in the Work Place

If you were an employer, how much internet surfing would you tolerate? Would you put up with hourly wage workers surfing the net? Salaried workers? How many hours a day of surfing would you see as a red flag that someone's position needs to be cut or at least limited?

    Giving Detention for Bad Grades

Recently my daughter was given detention for receiving 12/20 on a quiz. Considered a 'fail' by the teacher, she was kept in from recess. It seems to me to be counter intuitive to the educational process to punish bad grades with the removal of priviliges rather than adding support or extra...

The science of accupuncture (or lack thereof)

We were highjacking a thread on prayer with a side discussion on accupuncture. Some quotes have been trimmed of prayer related stuff so the two convos can have their own venue. :) My apologies if some of the order is mixed, or if someone's points got missed.

    Dessert Adventures

I looked at the price of specialty jams and chutneys and compared it to my input cost.... I spent a total of $20 for mangoes, jars, etc., for a yeild of 13 jars of chutney, which retail for $6 a piece. $20 to make nearly $80 worth of chutney... I can't complain.
