Liberals, NDP leadership have tentative deal to support Trudeau government to 2025

I get why conservatives are fuming over this, it does effectively slam the door on any dreams of a non-confidence vote the likes of PeePee might have had, but it's just politics. You'll never convince me that the "other side" wouldn't jump at any chance to gain power.

Yes, time will tell. That's fine with me, I've always been more for factual evidence than speculation.

Liberals, NDP leadership have tentative deal to support Trudeau government to 2025

Labour shortages in the health sector is a global issue, nothing in BC is any different that anywhere else. They'd love to hire more, but where from? The burnout rate is so high that it's not a particularly attractive field to go into these days.

Bought with promises of action on issues important to the NDP, universal dental and pharmacare.

Liberals, NDP leadership have tentative deal to support Trudeau government to 2025

JT and the Libs have bought themselves an insurance policy against non-confidence votes for the next three years, as a political strategy you can't argue against that. If the LIbs follow though on the promises made in exchange for NDP support this would be the largest expeansion of our public...

Liberals, NDP leadership have tentative deal to support Trudeau government to 2025

A little political horse-trading going on, hardly anything new about that. The same goes for butt-hurt Conservatives who can't find anyone else willing to get on board with their policies, nothing new about that. Maybe a CPC/PPC/Maverick coalition ?

Liberals vote against motion for Canada to export more gas to Europe

True that, oil and gas will be with us for a while yet, but future success depends upon moving in the right direction. What the people speaking about in the article linked to in the opening post is basically a long term solution to a short term problem, that goes against the long term solutions...

Liberals vote against motion for Canada to export more gas to Europe

So would achieving these exports be possible with our current level of of gas-exporting infrastructure ? Or will it take a tanker load of money and years to accomplish ? From what I've read, large scale LNG exports are still some years in the future, and our current pipeline system is either...

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

It's going to be a horse race for sure. It's a bit of a crapshoot as to whether Poilievre has wide enough appeal to win the federal contest, and Charest is up against a serious challenge to win the party leadership. The CPC is just too diverse in it's internal differences, the polarization...

That discussion was over and done with a long time ago. He's not stupid, I'll give him that, he managed to finagle his way into the White House, but he sure as hell didn't deserve it.

Trump didn't create a strong economy, he inherited it, and everything was not as rosy as some would have us believe. His gross mismanagement of the pandemic has put many AMericans in a hole that it will take them years to climb out of, and it didn't have to be like that.

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

Do you think a "Trump-like" individual would gain traction outside those already voting conservative, or even get sweeping support within the party ? Most of the people I know look to what went down in the US under Trump with either disgust or horror, nothing we'd want in Canada. We're just too...

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

I've read a bit on this and there are verifiable biological differences between liberal and conservatives, or more accurately basic differences in the way people think that cause them to tend to the liberal of convservative ends of the spectrum. With that in mind, the challenge of finding...

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

That's doubtful, I'm about as far left on the political spectrum as Mr. Poilievre is to the right, the fight here is for votes from the center.

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

But isn't a little more middle-of-the-road what the CPC needs to widen their voter support? They've pretty much licked the pot clean on the far right, even if they could win back those that O'Toole's appeals to centrists alienated there wouldn't be enough of them to win a federal campaign...

And they're still a bit of a novelty item, cashing in on some sense of environmental responsibility. As gasoloine gets more and more expensive, EVs will gain popularity and competition between producers will kick in, and they will become more affordable. One aspect that gets a lot of airtime...
