The so-called better cuts of beef don't take kindly to slow cooking. You need a well marbled cut with a bit of fat like the shoulder you used or a crossrib roast., Otherwise it will often be stringy.
That one definitely doesn't look very appetizing. We've bought at least two or three in the last few years. It's not a veggie that is easy to like. A lot of peeling to do. You can cook them and mash them like potatoes or grate them raw into a salad or whatever.
The baron of beef sounds good...
BTW, we used a couple of the Butterball "instant" turkeys for Christmas dinner and there was more than enough meat and the cooking was absolutely simple. Out of the freezer, into the oven. We had to use some extra gravy but that was simple. These little Butterball boneless turkeys are well...
Celery root is not the root of the celery we usually slice up into soups or salads. Celery root is kind of like a turnip. It is a different kind of celery. The stocks can be tough and bitter.
The farmer I've been getting the lamb from used to put up a hindquarter. A hindquarter is usually about a hundred and fifty pounds at something around $4.00 a pound. Since we moved from the mainland we haven't had a big enough freezer so we usually bought just a whole loin. I will talk to...
Some ovens as Karrie said, heat up a bit faster than others. I haven't had a problem because I watch them like a hawk over the last five minutes and take them out when they get as browned as I want them.
I was a little apprehensive about this recipe because our new(new a year ago) stove oven takes a relatively long time to heat up.(about 22 minutes to 450 from a cold oven......Not using pre-heat but just turning on cold oven. I've done the recipe twice and the results have been spectacular. I...

It started snowing last night and right now we have about six inches on our driveway. The good news is that it is raining now and it will be thawing and raining for the next three or four days. With any luck I can put off shoveling the driveway until the next snow fall.....;-)
CBC News - Edmonton - Plane in fatal Alberta crash was overloaded: TSB
This Aircraft shouldn't have made it into the air. For a man with a commercial licence and years of experience, you wouldn't expect this kind of dumb error. The fuel tanks were filled and there were five people on board...
I've done a bit of investigating. "Self-rising flour is just ordinary flour with baking powder and salt added.
Here is how to make your own:
Why buy self-rising flour when you can make your own?
Difficulty: Easy

Here's How:

You are right of course.
Speaking of snow...We are supposed to get some snow tonight, and again tomorrow morning, and a few times more over the course of the next week. I just can't wait to get out there and shovel....NOT.....;-)
Where are you getting the idea that there was ketchup on it.? There isn't. It is just good dark gravy. Putting ketchup on Poutine should be against the law.
Funny. Almost every recipe I've looked at says something like this, "
There are two keys to a perfect yorkshire pudding: The ingredients must be at room temperature and the muffin tins must be hot before adding the batter.
That's it!"
