    How about eggs?

I don't think I have a shovel that I would eat off of Ron, but I do have a couple of black, cast iron frying pans.....;-)

    Plumcots?

Mixing an apricot with a plum was obviously a good idea. Sweeter, more flavour, and a smaller pit. Let's face it. Neither the plum nor the apricot dazzle anyone with their flavour. I picked up a half dozen a couple hours ago. We'll need some more.

    Plumcots?

A cross between plums and apricots, pluots (aka plumcots) feature the best of both fruits: intense flavour, meaty texture, delicious sweetness. They are not genetically engineered, but are the product of cross-breeding. (The makeup is typically 70 per cent plum and 30 per cent apricot.) As a...

    How about eggs?

I like all kinds of sausage, particularly breakfast sausage which my butcher will sell in twenty five foot lengths. I guess I know that the sausage is made from filled intestinal casings but I try not to dwell on it. I think I would rather chew up the bones in canned salmon than try to eat the...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

That is funny. Our last dog was a German Shepherd and she ate just about anything, including jello.(any flavour) She would have eaten the bananas with the skin on.

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

Well, that sounds good except for the mashed banana on top of the porridge. In the warmer weather bananas don't keep that well and some mornings you can squeeze the banana out of it's skin like toothpaste. In that situation I would prefer nice fresh sliced bananas with the peaches. It's...

You may as well go all the way. May I suggest a few rashers of bacon or a few good quality breakfast sausages. Fresh sliced peaches would be good too....;-)

Hey Talloola If you were to put peanut butter in the meatballs and corn syrup in the Spaghetti sauce maybe he will get the idea that he could do as well......But I think maybe he's had the good life too long to change. On the other hand, if you married the guy he must have more than a few...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

Talloola I think the secret is liking to cook. If you enjoy cooking you will improve over the years. I ruined a lot of good food in the old days and my wife was patient enough to give me room because she knew I liked to cook. I lived with three other bachelors before I got married and I...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

Corn Meal Pancakes I find these pancakes a bit nicer when pancakes are most of the meal. The cornmeal adds a little body. These are great with sausages or bacon. Ingredients: 1/2 cup cornmeal 1 1/2 cups cold water 1 1/4 cups buttermilk 2 cups sifted all purpose flour 1/3 cup sugar 1...

    Pancakes for breakfast....or whatever

Now there is familiar ground. My daughter, when she was 8 or 10 years old, used to bring two or three of her friends home on a weekend for a sleep-over. I'm not sure when it was that they actually slept. Seems to me they were giggling and chattering the whole night. For breakfast it...

Snowbirds put on a show for children

My wife and I went down to the harbour and watched the Snowbirds and Hawk 1 give a very enjoyable performance over Nanaimo harbour. Chris Hatfield (one of our astronauts) flew the beautifully painted F-86 (Hawk 1). He did loops and rolls and speedy passes to entertain the crowd till the...

    Abbotsford Airshow

The Abbotsford Airshow started in 1962 as a promotion, mostly by the Abbotsford Flying Club. The show has grown over the years into one of the largest airshows around. The attendance in 1989 was approximately 350,000 for the three days. There have been military cut-backs and the average...
