It is. I grew up two hundred yards form the shores of the St.Lawrence river, just upstream from Montreal and it always breaks up in March. They don't get as much snow there, anymore.

That's awefully good! One of my cousins has a sugar bush and we get the fresh stuff. That's a bit harder to do (but not impossible) in BC. You have maple species that will give you sweet sap but not a lot of it.
