    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

Yes, but that goes back to the internal split within the party, between moderates and those further to the right. The last thing the party needs is anyone who might even come close to falling under the far right label. Don't make the mistake of assuming that all voters are informed about the...

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

That remains to be seen. What you see as "supporting Trudeau" can also be viewed as "opposing the CPC", something which is to be expected from a left wing party. The only people crying about the EA are conservatives, the same people widely seen to be at the roots of the protest. Looking back...

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

The cost of the border blockades is being measured in billions in lost business and employment, and the losses incurred by businesses and their employees in downtown Ottawa is equally disturbing, as was the disruption endured by residents. The protesters didn't have a lot of credibilty once...

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

It did bring them close as the popular vote results show. They just need a way to glean off some votes from the Liberals' urban strongholds. I can't see taking the CPC further to the right doing much for them, it would certainly put a bucket full of rhetorical ammo in the hands of left leaning...

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

Trudeau has always struck me as a pretty-boy idealist. He coasted to power on his father's reputation at a time when Harper's reputation was in the dumpster, and despite Trudeau's steadily declining popularity the Conservatives can't seem to come up with a better solution. The elections have...

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

There is serious doubt as to how long Trudeau will last as leader of the Liberals, but also serisou question about what political direction the Conservatives will adopt when their leadership issue is solved. As far as the freedom protests are concerned, I'm of the mind that the EA was a...

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

Harper was a dedicated slash-and-burn cost cutter, and in true Conservative form saw social and environmental programs as luxuries to be cut from the menu.

    Omnibus: Conservative Leadership Race

Jean Charest will have to clear the same hurdles that tripped up Erin O'Toole, the social conservative faction within the CPC. The party has to move closer to center to attract enough voters to win, and there is open resistance from within that would see the party move further to the right, the...

Conservatives split on so-called 'Freedom Convoy'

With the criticism the implementation of the EA at this point the Liberals really need to be sure to cancel it as soon as possible. But...something that will have a huge bearing on that is where the protests go from here. If the civil and economic disruption continue to the degree they reached...

Trudeau calls trucker protest an 'insult to truth'

Everybody is crying for Trudeau to "do something" but suggestions as to exactly what he should do are few and far between. Both the NDP and the CPC are making similar demands, and both are light on details. I'm of the mind that the protesters are not going to go away willingly, and that no...

Alberta’s oil production is the highest in our province’s history.

It would be interesting to see employment stats over the past decade in terms of just how many people were working. The strategy among producers since the price crash in 2014/15 has been to improve efficiencies to deliver higher output with fewer workers, that and continued downward pressure on...

Conservatives need to kill social conservatism to win

On the bright side, the federal conservatives have finally defeated a national party leader.

Trucker protest at U.S. border crossing reportedly several kilometres long

That's the irony of it. Trudeau and the Feds have no jurisdiction when it comes to domestic pandemic restrictions and and mandates, that's all under provincial control. And eight of the ten southern provinces are governed by conservatives. When are those darn conservatives going to give us...

Trucker protest at U.S. border crossing reportedly several kilometres long

Excellent and thought-provoking commentary on the dark road that partisan squabbling is taking us down. Both of our major parties are more concerned with gaining or hanging on to power than actually running the country in a manner that benefits all Canadians. Thanks for posting that Ron.

That's my take on it too. It's isolated brands, not widespread general shortages. Looks more like a disruption at the manufacturing end and not a supply chain issue.

That might be wishful thinking. If the CPC took on the PPC as partners it would drive a lot of the moderates out. Not to mention the infighting we're seeing today would just get worse.

I've been watching the dwindling ranks of the "Freedom Convoy" since it bacame a magnet for far right extremeists. What's the count of trucks that actually made it to Parliament Hill ?

Not everybody who gets the virus dies, but some do. A bigger question is how many people did the virus pass through before it resulted in a fatality. Some people can't grasp the logic behind "stop the spread".
