first off, not an impressive first post calling people you dont know names, and secondly, this is an old thread.

The subject is very immotive and close to home
To complain about calling people names.....look at the quote in my first post, that might be why I was free with name calling.
People who speak from a point of ignorance about something they know nothing about thoroughly annoy me.

Ok these are people we're talking about. I don't care how cruel or misguided the Taliban are, no one should boast about killing another human being.
It seems that NATO's strategy is "lets go kill all the Taliban so the Afghan people can rebuild." That will not work. With the poverty present in Afganistan, the lack of work for idle young men, and very high illiteracy rates (courtesy of decades of war and no infrastructure or education system to speak of), there is an almost limitless supply of recruits for the Taliban.
It costs the Taliban very little to operate too. Their small-arms are donated by extremist backers or recovered from the piles of weapons in that country. They don't exactly pay a salary. They get their food and shelter from sympathetic/intimidated locals.
So here's the incredibly difficult task: give people jobs, give them at least a primary education. When you snipe a few dozen fighters, you do little. They'll have more recruits to fill their place within a week. There's no shortage of people in that country who know how to fire an assault rifle.
Military victory in Afganistan will not happen easily. Look at what the Mujahadeen did to the Soviets with the same unsophisticated weapons the Taliban have available to them (ak-47's, mortars, RPG-7's). The British tried way back too, they also failed.

I have seen the video of the canook snipers .. extremely impressive, I am sure that snipers world wide have done close to the recorded 1.48 mile shot .. if not better, be it canadian american british european or russian. at the end of the day they have a job to do, and they do it very well, it does not matter what country they come from, sadly, like all countries, a few people whose ego goes far beyond there knowledge, have to open their mouths and voice an opinion , about a subject that they know absolutely nothing about, but if they were put in to a situation where it came to the point of living or dying, I could guess which option they would choose, without a second thought. Some people for some reason seem to think that you have to be special to be a soldier, you are so wrong< we are at the end of the day normal people, you dont hear about us slagging people of when they complain about there wrists hurting when they have sat on their fat arses drinking their coffee and eating doughnuts all day watching video's off people protecting them so that they can gain more weight and live a civil and fairly well protected life oh sorry i forgot .. for a lot of people an extremely well paid life with lots of back handers and quirks, yet you somehow still find time to forget us, slag us off and even look down at us, even when we are not fighting to protect you, we are helping when needed in national emergencies. You are so hypocritical, unappreciative and no better than the taliban!!!
