I see by his answer that he avoided your question. Clearly and historically the church existed first. Therefore the Bible is subject to the Church, not the other way around.
Well it certainly is. Conversion not only means coming to Christ, it means change of heart and life. Like any club, once you accept the premise of the entrance, you are required to follow the rules.

The church is the Body of believers, yes, but it is also that body of believers united to the organization begun by Christ when he commissioned the 12 Apostles to carry on His ministry and safeguard the Church He created. He further established a clear and definate hierarchy for His Church with Peter as the rock upon which He would build the Church. You have read the Bible, have you not?
