No matter how you dress it up, paganism is an offence to God who made us in His image. It is evil because it completely opposes the will of God. According to the pagan/wiccan rede, the following things are OK:-

- all forms of sexual perversion (I don't have to name them)
- adultery (as long as partner doesn't find out), fornication
- Cheating on tax payments
- Self mutilation (and suicide?)
- Viewing hard-core porn, paedophilic porn, snuff movies
- Taking hard drugs, getting blind drunk.
- Contraception, abortion.

Please correct me if I'm wrong on this.

An it harm none, do as thou wilt Do what you will, so long as it harms none An it harm none, do what thou will That it harm none, do as thou wilt Eight words the Wiccan Rede fulfill, / An it harm none do what ye will

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiccan_Rede

You stand corrected. No where does it say that what you state is correct. Even to commit adiltery and not get caught harms your own spirit because you will know that you have done wrong. Cheating on tax payments can come back to hurt you and your family. The rest of your reasonning is just plain silly.

Exodus 20:2-17
I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery;;
3you shall have no other gods before me..
4You shall not make for yourself an image, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth..5You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me, 6but showing steadfast love to the thousandth generation of those who love me and keep my commandments..
7You shall not make wrongful use of the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not acquit anyone who misuses his name..
8Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. 9Six days you shall labor and do all your work.
10But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, your male or female slave, your livestock, or the alien resident in your towns.
11For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but rested the seventh day; therefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and consecrated it.
12Honor your father and your mother, so that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
13You shall not murder.14You shall not commit adultery.
15You shall not steal.16You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor..
17You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or male or female slave, or ox, or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.

Where does your commandments say not to engage in acts of perversion, self mutilate or suicide,or take hard drugs, and get blind drunk.

i wouldnt apologize if i were you. their comments and attitude towards your church and you have been uncalled for, rude and nasty. in fact, i have them to partially thank for my faith choices cos after reading all the nastiness about the catholic church i just had to wonder what made them so irate and i realized it had to be the fact they know deep in their hearts theyre wrong.
And your comments in this thread and others(one of which I'm looking for, to prove you are a bigot), the hypocracy abounds.
brooms??? that sounds kinda silly.do pagans use dustpans too?hah hah hah
Oh would this be anything like what you just moaned on about???
youre kidding, right? my mom uses brooms to sweep up dirt, hey, whatever turns your crank...
And this???

Actually, I think you opnion is more offensive to God then those of us that walk closest to and with his creations.
The 'pagans' of today are not 'connected' with the so-called 'pagans' of the past, or the 'wise' Druids, or even the earliest 'wise women' of prehistory. Those people and groups evolved or were self-limiting. "Pagans" of today are part of a new-age group which thinks, based on 'books', that they are part of those 'old times'. Like a person in the "Society for Creative Anachronism", you carefully select a character for yourself, surround yourself with contemporarily made 'old time' costumes and trappings, and 'play a part.

I was 'there' in the 70s when all these new 'pagan' and 'witchcraft' books started appearing. I read them then; I read them now. They are carefully crafted (hah) to achieve just exactly the results I see in those who call themselves pagans and witches today--a blindness which thinks it sees everything 'new', a skepticism about everything but the pseudo beliefs they themselves embrace. . .and the people responsible for this are not, sadly, 'long dead.'
And yet the traditions my ancestors passed down to me are a joke to you???
hey welcome! my names sue. i just turned 17 a short time ago.im in grade 11. what about you dude?
this list is okay. lots of nice people here. some sort of messed up stuff sometimes! so what else are you into? got a pic to share on the profile thing man?ok, peace out.

i agree, i think great britian is tired and boring..they have the same sort of imperial attitude the yankees have that makes me think they think they are all that. i wish wed get ride of our ties to them. i really do. get rid of the queen and all that stupid royal stuff that is a waste of time and money. my brother says we dont pay directly to the queen, but we still pay for lt gov and the governer general and all that stuff so it is paying to support the queen indirectly. get rid of them and be a totally free country i say.i have no respect at all for england or english people

americans are probably the dumbest people on the planet. they are good in making money and taking adventage of people, and that is about it, and killing, they're really good at killing everyone.
could only be one of two reasons..their welfare cheques are late or the local liquor store closed down....thats about all they care about as a people..

im 18.. so what. does that mean i dont have a voice at all? im sorry, but the royal family is out of date..they are parasites and they are living off the blood of the people their family raped and stole from. they make me sick, all of them...too much money...and not elected into their offices..

You have lied about your age, insulted the English, The Americans and the natives. The RC church can have you. You little girl are not a nice person. I am English, Selfactivated is American and CDN Bear is native. You have personally insulted 3 persons here. Might I suggest you grow up before you turn in to a sour old spinster that no man wants and no woman would befriend.
Pretty much RSK!!!

Would the pogroms, witch hunts and inquisitions have anything to do with this? Your religion has unsucessfully tried to wipe out an entire belief system. Only now are we able to crawl out from under the thumb of the christian church and show our selves openly. The oppression went on for 1500 years. It may take us 1500 years to recover but you can bet your souls we will recover. Your kind a due to go the way of the KKK.

What turns my crank Little one will take you several lifetimes to appreciate. I hope you grow up and loose the mean streak.

i dont have a mean streak. i just say what i feel. hey, nothing you write makes paganism sound good. to me you sound petty and vindictive, and if that is what being a pagan does..so be itl

well RSK i think mapleleaf did mention at some stage that she's NEARLY 18, or her birthday is around now.

nevertheless her repsonse was uncalled for. Once again maple, you're mocking other people's beliefs, which is very rude.

No I am not special. I am though polite and do not go around insulting people, or at least not starting the fight. There is a difference between holding an opinion, popular one or not, and insulting someone out of ignorance and lack of maturity. I could even forgive someone for holding to an opinion out of religious fervor. But you are just hateful and immature. I do hope you grow out of it, I really do.

May Mithra grant you the vision to realize your mistakes.
May Woden grant you the wisdom to correct your mistakes.
May Thor grant you the strength to apologize to those you have hurt for your mistakes.

May the blessings of the gods be on you little one, your going to need it, if you keep up your spiteful ways.

Well maybe younger girls when older men are around. Gotta be sure the men are not trying to lure the girl in to some sort of cult that eats the flesh of their god and drinks blood. You know how impressionable they are. The young girls that is, lol. Being apampered by mummy when you are sick is the best though. Right up there with her drying your hair for you when you get out of the bath. I miss my mum alot. She was a good Christian. Said her prayers every night, thought even small animals had souls (contrary to some schools of thought), did good deeds for children and single mums and even attended an RC church occassionally with her best friend even if she was Anglican (CoE) herself.

Her and my Mum would have been great friends. My mom was raised Baptist and converted catholic. I was ok with it all until that Priest told me......well. Mum was a good Catholic. Even though she was divorced and had two heatherns lol Mum joined the Lioness and when she was dying of cancer she made speeches to womens groups about breast exams. Woman never quit. She taught the challenge course for decades lol I was her fist class. They named the 8th grade camping trip after her and a street in town. When the end was coming she told me how sorry she was for all my pain and asked me to forgive her. I did and I held her hand. All those times she stroked my hair and did that thing mothers do to your ear lol I always felt so safe.

Oh yeah right. Tylenols for me when I have a migraine. Always called them headaches till I had my heart attack. The nitroglycrine gives some migraines. Found out I was one and that my other headaches were migraines. Seen others with worse. I got two buddies who look like death warmed over when they hit. One even goes blind sort of.

This thread has continued for some time now, and i wonder now whether anyone's views have changed?

Sanctus, would you admit that "the culture of death" was melodramatic, and maybe rather a misnomer?

I personally don't think that Sanctus is ready to admit anything of the kind. There's one post that struck me as rather characteristic. Let me quote:

Did you notice that whenever Sanctus is asked a direct question in this thread, he never gives a direct answer? He makes a kind of a joke, or some kind of offensive remark, but these cannot be considered a proper answer. I am beginning to feel that it happens because Sanctus has got nothing to say, except for what he had been taught, and that is obviously not enough to keep up a civilised discussion on his side.

Maple, you are talking derisively about things you know nothing about, and probably never will. This is something very important that your priests will never teach you. If you don't have sound knowledge on an issue, try not to voice your opinion until you find something out about it.

No, for that is not what I see when I look around. We live in a culture that celebrates death, in its murdering of unborn babies and its murdering of hope. Our young people are a generation quite unlike any before. They are attuned to acceptance of things that would've horrified us twenty years ago. They are absolutely aware and accept a multitude of family permutations contrary to what was once a normal family unit. Drugs, alchohol, are a part of their everyday awareness, and this despite quite hectic information campagins on the dangers of these substances.

Turning from God, they seek "spirituality", which is the modern word for do it yourself beliefs appealing more to self-satisfaction than actual spiritual enlightenment.

In short, we have become a society of narcisstic souls seeking only those things which please the self.
