Of course there are allot of points and issues one could argue when it comes to beliefs.
But if one is bound only to accept one method of belief by one organization, then by definition, there is no freedom of spirit.

The term “Mother of God” is a misnomer. Mary was the Mother of Jesus for God has no mother.
But I thought Jesus was your god and vice versa. So all this stuff about your critters in the holy trinity all being the same critter is nonsense. Well, it all makes sense now, to me anyway. And you wonder why people get confused about what's written in the holey bible when there are people like you to explain things. lol

It is not a misnomer. It is a term as ancient as the Church. another being "Theotokos" (Christ-bearer). Sorry my friend, picking up your Bible and coming to your own conclusions might suit you just fine, but many of us, if we do follow the Christian path, prefer to do so with the Church that has been proclaiming the Gospel of Christ for 2,000 years. And for all of that 2,000 years, the Christian Church has honoured Mary as the Mother of God.

And why if they are seeking answers, even if they do not suit, it is best to seek answers from reputable sources. I understand you are an atheist, but look at it this way, if one wants to understand Buddhism, to me the proper source would be a Buddhist cleric/monk and not Joe Blow who read a bio of Buddha. My theory is if they don't know, nobody else would either:)

As to the Trinity, not so hard to comprehend as you might think. I always teach it as three natures of God, and use water as my example. For example, water is liquid, steam and can be frozen..But still remains the original molecules that comprise the water. Three natures, one being. In fact, you are a trinity yourself, for you have at least three natures in you-three different but equal relationships if you will, one as son, one as husband and another as father. The same man, but different relationships. Here endeth the lesson(that'll be 100 dollars please my friend)

Ah. So, we should free all prisoners that committed crimes and let your god handle it. I'm cool with that as I live in a relatively remote area and are unlikely to be bothered by pedaphiles, rapists, murderers, etc. People in cities have different views concerning leaving that sort of judgement to god, however. Um, the one bit of scripture I can remember being applicable here is: "whoever sheds man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed" - Genesis somewhere, I think. IMO, that bit translates to the idea that if someone commits a crime, they will be punished by man in a manner appropriate to the crime. That involves judging someone to be sure that they are actually the ones who did the deed.

And also dear AJ, remember in the Bible Jesus(you've heard of Him I'm sure) teaches us to submit to Caesar in civil matters that do not conflict with God. These authorities may sometimes sit in judgement upon us for crimes we commit. God does not give us permission to commit crimes and not be judged for them by men.(or women-let's be PC:) )

You know Gilbert, the more you comment, the more love I have to exercise for your benefit.
We’re talking apples and oranges here.
Apples: say, represent the earthly things. Like the apple in the Garden.
Oranges: say, represent spiritual things.
Now, we cannot mix the two or else we’ll have a hi-bred. I’m not a scientist, so I don’t know all the particulars, but I’m sure you do.
Anyways, I am speaking to apples what oranges are, and the apples are trying to see the oranges as apples.
But they are two distinct fruits.
You my friend are strictly an apple thinker and anything to do with the orange, you’ll have nothing to do with, except of course only to rib us who deal in oranges.
But that’s OK.
In the process, you are getting an education round about way of what the orange consists of.
As long as you keep on reading and commenting on this thread my friend, you are being thought unwillingly.
I have the patience to teach and to take any ribbing from you or any one else.
Love is above all: long-suffering, kind, gentle, slow to anger, patient and giving.
If in your belief you have these qualities, then I should say, that you too can put up with me in the same way.

Love ya brother, in Christ.

I rather suspect that what he is learning is the thought processes, as he himself said, for what people in the Church think. At no time do I sense a conversion. Not to say I wouldn't love to welcome the man into the Church, for he has a quick mind and intelligent discourse, but I do not think you, or I, are convincing him at this point in time to convert.

Exactly. One doesn't ask a plumber about electrical work.

That's about what I had figgered what was meant by the issue. The 3 aspects of Yahweh, or whichever alias one chooses to call it.. So it didn't make any sense for him to say in one post that they are the same critter then in another post say that Mary wasn't the mother oof Yahweh, only the mother of Yeshua.
How about if I give you some fruit, eggs, and a couple chickens?

(you've heard of Him I'm sure) Brother Sanctus, of all people you should make such a comment.
You know Jesus is dear to my heart and my Savior and Redeemer, of whom my whole life and soul rests on.
He is my sure foundation, my solid rock, my refuge in times of need, my counselor, my Might God in whom I trust.
He is my friend, He knows my heart and teaches me all I need to know.

Psa 23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Psa 23:3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Now, you wanna take your words back?

As for judgment. The judgment of which I speak is spiritual judgment. The one of which you speak is earthly judgment. Apples and oranges.

Yes, you steal, you get caught you pay. What you sow, that shall you reap.

But as for spiritual judgment, Christ is the Judge of that. I have no say so in that, therefore I judge not.

Fine, but Bakker broke the law. He ripped off millions of dollars from poor, unsuspecting souls who were seeking answers. He mis-used the name of God to further his own private financial wealth. A pox on the man!

My goal is not to convert. Only to present Christ and what He can do for us. If there is to be any conversion, it will be by the Holy Spirits touching the heart of Gilbert. But until that happens, nothing will change, no matter how much we present our views.
But, don't forget that there are many others who do listen and do hear what we say and are touched by the Holy Spirit and are converted to Christ.

Throw in a few bottles of good red wine and yourself for a dinner companion and it's deal! Between us, after the wine, we'll have the world pretty well all fixed up. Better invite Dexter too:) Hell, invite AJ so he can give us Scriptures on something or other. Don't worry AJ, we'll dig up some grape juice for you.:)

Personally AJ, I'm mostly here for conversation and relaxation, not to convert.I get tons of Church related, faith related conversations in the "real" world. You should try dealing with a Confirmation or First Communion class, the kids would have your head spinning. God help you if you started answering with lengthy Scripture quotes--they'd eat you alive. Kids ARE NOT stupid, my friend.

Yes, He broke the law and by the law He should be punished. But God has forgiven Him.

The shame, the break-up of his marriage, the shame of prison is his payment for his sins.

But you see, spiritually speaking, Jesus shed blood covers Jim Baker sins for the purposes of eternal life.
Jesus has paid the price for all of us to be saved to eternal habitat with Him.

But still, it is our choice to either accept Him as Savior or live on our own strengths.

If we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, we have access to the Father (meaning by access is that we have all the blessings from Heaven on earth) directly and promptly.

Now, Sanctus, you and I should be speaking in terms of the spiritual, for we of all people we have knowledge of the words of God.
You have the Church as your guide, and I have the bible as my school master.
We both know who Jesus is, and therefore should understand what is spiritual and what is not.

Sin is sin. There is no degree to sin. If I sin by lying to my neighbor, what difference is a sin of stealing millions?
For God has concluded all under sin. Therefore, there is no difference.

I can understand you position Sanctus, and I admire your dedication to those young uns.
But there is the milk of the word you know.

The basic principles are thought to these youg-uns and as they grow, they are slowly weaned out of the basics and into the meat of the word.

And there is where each individual must by choice choose how much devotion will be given to the study of Gods word.

That is a choice we don't have that is the work of the Holy Spirit. We teach and hope for the best in them.

I minister not as you do, but to whom ever the Holy Spirit causes to cross my path. I deliver the help, the message and let God do the rest.

If by example I give indication of what God is, then they will recognize what God is like.

I like the road house tea. At logans, and after that a good steak.
After all, did I not say I am free?
I am bound only by what my conscience binds me to.
And if God says no, then I adhere to that.

Yes tis true. The Catholic Church has. But that changes not, that Mary is not the mother of God! Mother of Jesus yes, and that same Jesus being God at the resurrection, yes.
