In regard to the Burka contraversy in England, and the attitude of Muslims' in regard to how they don't abuse women, here is a link that gives all of us a clear view of what the truth of the matter is:

http://switch5.castup.net/frames/20041020_MemriTV_Popup/video_480x360.asp?ai=214&ar=590wmv&ak=null

I truly believe that before Muslims' are allowed into our Western world they sign a declaration of Human Rights and freedoms and agree to accept our culture that is so generous and tolerant. Covering the face is a sign of not wanting to be contaminated by our Western ways, perhaps it covers bruising from the abusive spouse, and has been proven in London, as a way to shield Terrorists.

oh, and hi everyone, i am new to the forum, and l am impressed with what l have read so far in what has been posted and discussed.

Yeah you can go to hell. You like to read what you like on this board now. They are talking about a veil not a burka which is the top of the headdcress. Stop trying to put your western antimuslim crap down the throats of Muslim people. The Burka is a religious item, the veil can go, however it is not oppressive at all, especially in western society.

Maybe we should have Christian church leaders go to prison for the crimes against humanity committed against Residential school children. Get real.

Muslim people commit abuses against women just as much as a Christian or a Jew or a Hindu person would and it has nothing to do with writing in the Koran but some perceived notion that some contextualize.

And back at you !!!!...

sorry the facts hurt, perhaps you might take a look at the facts, like how many children are still being sold into marriages. It is not considered peophilia because it is part of a tradition and part of a culture to marry children to adults and have sex when the children first reach menses. However it is a mental illness to be a peophile, and the Muslim culture continues to practice this as a 'norm'.

It is ironic that you are located in B.C. and yet your attitude is distainfully against the western world attitudes. That is a prime example of what l mean when l say that Muslims' come here and benefit from a tolerant and generous society, and yet they are the first to complain and criticize. How hypocritical to be self-righteous and distainful openly showing contempt of the very society you are enjoying.

Just the facts, terribly sorry they hurt.

No Cortex it isn't racism, Islam is a religion not a race. Here is an article about Moderate Muslims asking for help. They are also afraid of the radicals. This is an issue that needs to be resolved so we all can live in harmony together. Nice try thou.

Moderate Muslims demand action on fundamentalists’ threats

CanWest News Service

Published: Wednesday, October 11, 2006

TORONTO — A Canadian Muslim group wants Ontario to stop fundamentalist Muslim leaders from making what they call "thinly veiled death threats" against moderate Muslims.
"We have been subjected to a hate campaign by conservative and Islamist groups with allegations of being anti-Islam (or) smearing Islam, which is tantamount to being accused of blasphemy or apostasy," Farzana Hassan, president of the Muslim Canadian Congress, said Wednesday.
"Non-Muslims may scoff at these allegations, but within the Muslim community these allegations are understood to be thinly veiled death threats, without actually uttering them."
The congress has written to Michael Bryant, Ontario’s attorney general, asking him to examine the matter.
Calling someone anti-Islam or an apostate should be considered a hate crime, argued the group.
Apostasy, or renouncing a religion, and blasphemy carry the death penalty in many Muslim countries. Hassan said there are people in Canada willing to take it upon themselves to carry out such a sentence.
"This is a very real threat," Hassan said. "This is not some kind of a fanciful conclusion on our part."
Raheel Raza, another member of the congress, said the threats began escalating over the past year fuelled by the debate within Canada’s Muslim community over a proposal in Ontario to adopt Islamic Shariah law tribunals to arbitrate some family disputes.
The proposal set off protests and Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty eventually shelved the plan.

I notice that you are big on your negativity yet can offer vey little in regard to factual information.

There is a place for cowardly blogger who has some dirty diaper issues...therapy might help.

In the meantime, just for your referance l will only respond with those who can at least converse with facts, and some knowledge about what they are speaking about.

I am assuming this is the debate you are referring to, and if so, the answer is included...

Anything to contribute???

Northstar raising ....CC welcome

Northstar you enter the Prism of Canadian life.

There are all kinds of colors; pleasant most, but watch out for the "dark" spectrume.
Receptions like you experienced can be a useful guide to seperate the weed from the wheat.

Of course I mostly agree with your statements, but Canadians tend in to many cases to
hide their real feelings and run with the crowd to fit in. Just human nature.

It takes strenght and courage to go against the grain.

As someone said "only garbage and dead fish float with the stream"

Have fun
