Hey gonzo, when you get something that is not printed in 1/2 inch block lettters, let your mom know, she'll be so proud of you.
daz, you did not give the Irish any credit in this comment, you were quite adiment that they had NO part in it.
They were certainly not fighting for Britian, as you asserted in some other post, they were fighting for their lives. They had no choice.
So, if we use your math skills, Canadians, being used as cannon fauder in WW I (LWF), were British, because they were under British command.
I'm not sure what history books you have all read, but you obviousy have not read anything that wasn't published by the Governments or approved by your school boards. It is common knowledge amungst anyone that has studied warfare on this continent at the Royal Military College, that it was infact an Irish contingent that set the balze on the doorsteps of the White House.
It must be nice and sunny in your lil' world, but sorry, you do not hold the patent on the truth. History is always written by the victors. Only when history is revisited, by an objective source, can you truly see the relivance of all the participants.
Give me until Tuesday, and I'll have the exact name of the regiment too.
Hmmmmmm, I'm smelling fingure puppets in here now.

They wer'nt Irish my man. The Irish have a lot of very famous points in history to claim. But not that, it was a british regement who MARCHED down from Canada and promptly attempted to burn down the whitehouse, but the rain interfeared, prompting the Americans to think it was an act of god.
